*** Per the Supreme Court ruling in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, the good cause requirement is no longer required and will not be considered by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. ***

Starting March 1, 2024, ACSO will cease processing CCWs for municipalities in Alameda County. Applicants should now apply or renew their CCW license with their local law enforcement agency. Current local agencies who have announced this are below.

Does anyone know if the people that I put as references need to go in person or do they get a call?

Ummm, ack Recent posts about Fremont cite, not only you are going to get absolutely clobbered on fees, they are going to "try" to make your references drive down and do the interviews in person. WTF?

My City called my 3 references, but we aren't Fremont.

The handoff from Alameda county to the cities, made sense, but it's sounding like the wild wild west

Anyone from the city of Alameda gone through it? Wondering if they are handing it off to PD also.

Alameda PD said they're expected to have their CCW process online within the next few weeks, through the city website. Asa with other cities, will be NEW applicants only, and renewals will not be accepted. No other details were provided.

I sincerely hope Alameda County would consider to accept renewals of existing CCW holders who were originally issued by it, so folks wouldn't have to start from scratch at their local PD for renewal.

ACSO said they won't renew if your local PD is ready for ccw.

I know, and that stance would be okay, if some of the Local PDs were not acting like the wild wild west. If Alameda County issued the CCW, the hoops have been jumped, no reason the local PD, should make folks once again dig in their pockets for the entire process, including psych.. Hell, Alameda still has my money and I'm well through the process via my local PD..

Do you know if Oakland will be doing ccw’s? I checked their website but nothing can be found there.
They are so broke they will be laying off police and firemen ( >$100m underwater said the news). The new police chief they had to go out of state for- no Chief in California was interested. I suspect CCW is waaaaay down their list of things to get into.

Gotcha I put in my ccw application 2 months ago with acso so now just waiting.

No word from ACSO, but I'm at the psych phase with my local PD. $415, appt in January. Already did part A, I guess there is a part B (300 questions?) and then a video call. ACSO still shows me still sitting in assigning to processor (but applied beg Jan 2024). Odd that some PD's don't require a pysch spiel, lucky you guys, saved yourself $4xx !!
