EDC and holsters

so first question, is the mp9 2.0 compact a doable ccw. Second question are expensive iwb holsters really that much better. I have a holster from Amazon that was like $50 and it feels fine, most of the time o don’t even feel that my shield plus is there unless I bump into Something.

I agree with the holster, got mine off Amazon and it works perfectly. Also got one from WTP paid double and works the same.

$50 isn’t that far from a Vedder holster and they make good stuff. They have just about any combination of RDO and WML you can come up with.

There are many affordable holster companies with good work. Bravo concealment has pretty good ones too. I have a full size 2.0 and it has good retention. They’re like $40 or 2 for like $60.

I carry a full size m&p most days with an extra mag, carried a Staccato p every day for over a year too. if it's not doable it's the holster. Yes holsters make a difference especially when you get out of the purse gun category. I think single clips suck, need two so it doesn't rock to the sides. The plastic ones work well but discreet carry concepts clips make a huge difference (again dual clips not the mono ones), the gun doesn't shift angles. Wedges also make a big difference, there's plenty of options for them now. Some just have them built in like tenicor holsters. Also makes a difference if you're using a gun belt and not a normal belt. Kore essentials are my favorite because the ratchet system that is really easy to adjust when you sit and stand if you want to loosen it a bit.

As mentioned, a good belt and a quality holster don’t need to be expensive, the wedge is nice. Find something that works for you. I haven tried a lot of cheaper options, I did concealment express and wasn’t too fond of it. Just make sure you get it with an optic cut if you are going to put one on.

The question isn't easily answerable without some context. If you're happy with your holster, great. But I suspect you're wondering if you should throw down some cash to see if the grass really IS greener.

Personally, I don't want anything other than a NICE leather holster. I've had a couple CHEAP holsters, both leather and plastic, and they were all awful. I've had some nicer kydex holsters that were ok. One comes to mind that I could actually live with. It was on the expensive side.

But I like leather, and I like very specific features. Foremost, I like TWO loops that go completely around the belt. Traditional snaps and magnetic snaps are my favorite. I move around a lot. Single loops and clips allow the gun to move around. That's a deal breaker. The holster needs to hold the gun tight up against my body, rather than sticking out and flopping around. The holster has to be easy to draw from, and it needs to be easy to reholster. I like Ryan Grizzle and Milt Sparks holsters. There are other top tier holster makers, but these are my favorites.

You mentioned comfort. Don't overlook OWB. With a nice holster and appropriate clothing, you can totally rock OWB. If you dress like Freddy Mercury, or if you're into skinny jeans and skinny shirts, you might not be able to pull it off.

There are holsters and there are holsters. I got cheap ones and ones that are not as cheap.....

You have to find what works for you but if you have to justify then there is a likelihood that you feel something is off

My main carry holsters are OWB/OWB convertible TTGunlesther holsters. I own them for all my carry guns but one. At some point I will own one for it as well.
The TTG holster is very comfortable, makes all the firearms disappear from view.

My cheap holsters are handy.... Had an incident with one of them recently... Pushed my mag release mag in and when I was unholstering at home, my mag started slipping out.

So I guess long story short, you get what you pay for. Never had an incident with the TTG holsters. 99.99999% of the time you'll find me with a TTG holster. Bottom line is, you spent money on a quality firearm, quality training and.... You're gonna cheap out on the holster?

As far as holsters, you should make sure you have some for OWB, IWB, and open carry, even if you have never opened carried because of the law, it would be good to have when you're in a free state or if SHTF. I carry a level 2 duty holder/semi drop on a belt with suspenders, fixed blades and rifle and handgun mags when I am training in full gear.

That’s what I’ve done with the m&p.

I have a couple of unrailed 1911s. I’m thinking of throwing a recover tactical rail on the 45 for shtf and make a holster. The recover tactical holsters are ugly and seem flimsy.
