FAQ Scammers in Marketplaces

We don't take scammers lightly but they are everywhere. I've recently seen a small increase in the number of attempted scams and attempted sign ups. We do what we can and will rule with authoritarian ban hammers but please take caution and never be afraid to walk away from a "deal".

Common Scams

• People who message offering products outside of California.
• People who message you offering a lower price outside the platform
• Anything to do with crypto
• Sob Stories
• Requests for large deposits (Check feedback or use Paypal G&S)
• Requests shipping the item outside of CA (for firearms, accessories is up to you)

Ways to protect yourself

• If its risky, walk away.
• Report the message or listing if its sketchy
  • Invite a moderator into the conversation
• If you don't feel comfortable, walk away
• Feel free to ask in the forums, just don't say the names. People will help guide you.
• Don't be afraid to walk away.

Long story short, I met a user on calguns and he had a xd40 for sale with extra mags and with ammo. I reached out to him to on 4/16 to let him know im interested. We come to an agreement and he ask for a deposit, so in good faith I follow thru and give him $. Fast forward to 4/19 he ask for...
