great experience
Pros
  • was able to try out multiple pistols and Johnny was patient and helpful
  • combined PPT and new purchase saving some fee
Cons
  • Was told they stop processing PPTs at 6, didn't know in advance but was luckily able to start at 5:40.
The team is very professional, friendly and low pressure. PPT was efficient and the selection and prices are the best in the Bay Area. Will come back again.

Slow and cramped
Pros
  • Friendly
  • Good selection
Cons
  • Slow
  • Small shop
Did a PPT that lasted an hour. Staff was double and triple checking the same paperwork that they just completed. Saw multiple staff working on one transaction. Small stuffy shop that got crowded multiple times.

Thanks for stopping by! Right now we're training two completely new team members which is likely what you saw with multiple staff working the same transaction. We also double and triple check our work, especially with PPTs, to ensure that we don't have to re-DROS anything and have to have the seller come back. Usually we average about 20-30 minutes on a single gun PPT, but the newer guys may be taking their time to ensure that everything is correct.
The Best
Pros
  • Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
  • No extra PPT fees. $47.19.
  • Great prices on firearms and accessories.
  • Quick service on purchases and PPT's.
  • Wide selection on rifles and pistols.
Cons
  • Sort of far from my house.
This is my favorite place to purchase or do a private party transfer. They are usually the first place to get a new item like a Holosun optic or newly added to the roster pistol. Everyone is friendly and helpful. You never feel rushed or pushed into a purchase. Simply the best.

First outdoor range for me and I was sold
Pros
  • Rapid fire
  • Beautiful location and commute
  • RSOs run an organized and tight ship
  • Safety is top notch
  • So many shooting bays and distances
Cons
  • Public hours only Thurs-Sun 9-4
  • Bays are little too close (my neighbor's brass was flying all over me)
  • No d-lead in bathrooms, bring your own
This range is HUGE and the drive is beautiful! Park in the first lot to check-in (and take your range safety test if first time). Free eyes/ears rentals.

After check-in, drive down to the bays you want. I only use the 7-15 yard pistol range.

The RSOs here are fantastic and run the operation like a well oiled machine:
- Transport firearm from car to bay only when range is hot.
- 3 minute PA warning before ceasefire.
- On ceasefire, chamber flag your firearms for safety inspection (they provide them)
- RSO then declares range is cold for target swaps + cleaning brass.
- Repeat

Great process and sufficient range hot time. Did I mention you can rapid fire? You don't need a cert for this... just make sure you can actually hit your target, or else the RSO will take away that privilege from you.

Only other thing is as mentioned in my cons, bring your own d-lead wipes and care your neighbor's flying brass.

But this range is a solid S-tier and I'll be back!

The range ain't much, but it'll work
Pros
  • Hours and location, easy to get to during the work week
  • Solid selection of firearms and accessories for sale
  • Rental firearms
Cons
  • Ventilation / HVAC seems to be poor in the range
  • Old lanes and rails
  • Range safety is a little questionable
  • Extremely busy on the weekends
  • Cleanliness
Weekdays are less busy but weekends are crowded. I waited around 30 min to get a lane.

Fill out a waiver, and if renting, demonstrate how to operate the firearm. No eyes/ears rentals! Bring your own or purchase theirs.

The range works. Distance markers on the walls. Booths have a light, a shelf, and slot for targets (nice!). The clamps for targets are awkward and require min18 inch width targets.

Their HVAC system is questionable, smells worse than other indoor ranges I've gone to. Unclear if bathroom soap is d-lead.

3s per shot, but enforcement varies. No headshots bc target clips made of steel. No prob, flip your target upside down.

No RSO in the range, they watch thru window/camera. Feels sketchy considering all the new folks here who clearly need guidance but are handed a rental firearm.

I'd say Reed's is great for first timers who want easy access to a range, but for experienced folks, only go if it's the most convenient option.

Solid Business
Pros
  • Efficient
  • Fair pricing
  • Personable
  • Knowledgeable
Used this FFL for a transfer and had a good experience. Dave knows the law regarding firearms. Process was straightforward, secure location, and pricing was fair. If you're overly sensitive some of his jokes and comments might catch you off guard lol but I had a great time doing business with Dave.

Did a PPT yesterday at Manzano Munitions and ended up buying a Bodyguard 2.0 Comp to put on the same DROS. First time there, had heard plenty of good things about them, and I definitely would agree and recommend them. Great guys, helpful and all business. Looking forward to future purchases and business there.

Went here to do a multi-gun PPT and they were hands down the most straight forward FFL in south bay. Will definitely come back to shop any 2A items from them!!

Unique and Cool Range/Club
Pros
  • Members Only
  • No wait times
  • Low fees for members
  • Electronic range, no nannies
  • CCW Friendly
Cons
  • Requires Membership Fees
I've been a member here for about six months and really like the place. You never have to wait for a lane, sometimes I am the only person shooting. There are no kid gloves nanny RSO's like at a public range so you can practice holster draw, CCW training, shooting from kneeling, etc.

The members fee is worth it for the exclusivity and not having to deal with public range antics alone.

They charge $40 for FFL transfers which is very fair and reasonable. My only gripe was they charged me this $40 on top of normal PPT fees, which is not legal and they pushed back on me even after providing the penal code. Everything else is so cool it's whatever.

They also have an electronic golf range for members if you are into golf. It's a club atmosphere which is pretty cool. Many classes are offered here for CCW, tactical shooting and other things.

They also have very good and well priced in-house gunsmithing services. They did a good job on my P2000SK.
Awesome Store
Pros
  • Great Prices
Cons
  • N/A
I've been going to Burbank Ammo for over a year and these guys are always busy because they have great prices on ammo all the time and great selection on firearms. I bought my 1st gun here and got my firearm safety certificate. I just did my first PPT with them on a rifle and they were awesome. They made the transaction smooth for both parties. The other party the selIer was so happy with the transaction that he ended up buying ammo from Burbank Ammo because he said the prices were really good compared to his area and the service was great. He actually said the drive would be worth it for him to come to the valley. I'm glad I introduced him to Burbank Ammo.

Not the most accommodating or sympathetic
Pros
  • Private PPT appointments
Cons
  • Doesn't respond to emails
  • Unhelpful and unsympathetic on the phone
  • Expensive PPTs
See my review of Peninsula Guns to understand the story.

With a seller flying in for one day I sent him an email about 10 days in advance based on the contact info on his website. He never replied. It appeared the times I needed were booked on his calendar so I called hoping he would find a way to squeeze me in given my special circumstances and needs. He came across a bit snooty and uncaring in telling me he's booked. So I asked for a local recommendation. Nope, he wouldn't refer anyone. I left the call feeling a bit off put.
