I put together a Gen 3 “Glock 49” style setup and figured I’d share some details.
Since Glock never released a Gen 3 49, especially for restricted states like CA, this is essentially:
• Glock 17 length slide (Gen 3)
• Glock 19 Gen 3 frame
• Gen 5, 17 barrel (for lug compatibility)
• Adapter component "RCS GEN 3 RECOIL SPRING ADAPTER "
• Gen 3 Glock 19 recoil spring assembly
Why do it?
• Slight velocity increase from longer barrel
• Longer sight radius
• Compact grip for concealment
• Keeps OEM reliability
Post-range impressions:
It ran exactly like you’d expect from OEM Glock components, boring and reliable.
It feels like a slightly nose-heavy 19, but not in a bad way. Recoil impulse still feels very “Gen 3 Glock.”
For those stuck with Gen 3 platforms, this is an interesting way to get Glock 49 performance without buying a whole new gun.
Full video breakdown here:
Curious, do you prefer full size grip or compact grip?
