Announcement New Feature! 🚨 New Safety Feature: Keyword Highlighting in Messages & Threads

Hey everyone,

I’ve been digging through a lot of recent issues and quietly rolling out some new tools behind the scenes. One of the latest additions is keyword highlighting for certain payment terms.

If words like Zelle or PayPal show up in a DM or thread, you’ll now see them highlighted with a hover effect.

Why we did this:

We’re constantly reminding people not to take transactions messaging off-platform and to use our built-in messaging and systems instead. That’s where we have visibility and can put some warnings.

We’re not banning these words or stopping you from using outside payment methods — this is just a gentle pause button to make people think twice, especially when dealing with:

• New accounts
• Unverified users
• No feedback history

A few reminders (worth repeating):

• If someone suggests Zelle or PayPal and they have no feedback or verification, ask them to get verified first
• Do not send full amounts upfront
• Use our messaging system whenever possible

This keyword highlighting will show up in DMs and public threads, and the goal is simple:

reduce scams and help users slow down before making risky decisions. Have them verify and help the site first then confirm with us.
