I only learned about the city meeting yesterday afternoon, just before it happened. I would have gone had I more notice.

I'm not going bad-mouth or disrespect people who don't understand that gun training will increase their safety. Because we carry concealed, most people are not aware that there are guns all around Walnut Creek already. A gun range and store will make them face that reality. I understand their fear. What's needed is education and rational discussion.

I'm not in a position to assert that a new gun store or range won't increase gun violence in the area. I did a little review with AI and the research into the question is not definitive. But, my kids live near that location and it still wouldn't worry me.

I hope it goes through. I especially hope they open their store there, even if the range doesn't get allowed.

I’ll believe it when I see it. It would be great if it happened but I think the opposition will be fierce. You better be prepared to spend a lot of money in legal fees fighting in favor of this.

We're hoping for the best, guys! If approved we'd still be a couple years out, but we'd love to bring another local range to the area. Nothing set in stone just yet but at our Tracy range, we do holster draws/rapid fire after approval for safety reasons and range longevity (you guys know what I mean). Hoping to have the same at Walnut Creek.

We have another hearing coming up in the future for the Conditional Use Permit, time and date TBD - I will likely announce it here. We will have a much better heads-up on when it's happening so we'd appreciate it if the community shows up to show their support! I personally got notification of last night's hearing yesterday afternoon, so I'll be more on the ball with letting everyone know about it in the future.

I would love for it to happen. Out of curiosity, does your Tracy range allow controlled pairs? I don’t want to do rapid fire but when Jackson Arms close 10ish years ago and Fishing Guns N More closed, no where to do a controlled pair.

To my knowledge, Tracy does not allow holster draw. According to the counter guys they did for a while but it did not get enough interest and required a live RSO to observe which was determined too costly.

That's crazy. I just asked and was told this right now by my supervisor. I was completely unaware.

Regarding red dots or lights, the only restriction I'm aware of in Contra Costa County is that you can't have them on your registered concealed-carry weapons. Perhaps that's what @shaunb93291 was referring to.

This is currently being challenged in court.

You shouldn’t be accurate and you shouldn’t have non lethal means to disengage. That’s not cohesive with their community identity.
