Things it does well:
- Give enough of a trigger break feeling that you will get your dry fire training in.
- Helps you with acquiring/transitioning targets
- Instantaneous feedback - You see where shot would land in a hypothetical world with perfect recoil control/no anticipation.
- Be closer to how one would often use guns than point at wall dry-fire rack reset. Most y’all using Glocks, they aren’t bolt action guns.
Things it doesn’t do well:
- Recoil. There isn’t any.
- Reload. The simulated reload in game kind of sucks. Just turn on “infinite ammo” mode and focus on different fundamentals. Put your real life belt on and practice reloads separately in your home.
Neutral:
- Movement beyond stationary feet. This depends on your environment. For movement in confined apartments and buildings, you’ll be using the “teleport control stick” system that is so common in nearly all VR games. Not everyone is blessed with huge empty spaces indoors to run around in, or giant backyards. Thus, non-stationary movement will be limited by your home.
General commentary:
This currently functions on Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest 3S. The Meta Quest 3S is mostly a repackaged Meta Quest 2. While the processor is better, the limitation of the lenses/display from the Meta Quest 2 that the Meta Quest 3S uses makes this nearly moot. Save a ton of money, get a Meta Quest 2 used on eBay or pony up for a Meta Quest 3. Don’t waste your money on a Meta Quest 3S, unless you plan to use this system for other things unrelated to ACE VR.
