Ammo purchase out of state

Hello, if we are purchasing ammo online from out of state does it have to go to an ffl? Say I want to buy custom ammo for a rifle does the vendor have to ship it to an ffl here in California?

Yes, most companies are aware of ca. restrictions and will ask for your ffl.

Unless you hold an COE from the DOJ & a C&R FFL, it needs to be transferred through a licensed ammo vendor or FFL.

OR

Are exempt for one of the other myriad of reasons, but you would probably know that already
