An example of a gun rights case in California: Duncan vs Bonta - Setting expectations for other cases, absent some remarkable move by SCOTUS

This is a timeline of events; I think Duncan might fairly be classified as a 'degenerate case"; it surely is very peculiar.

Virginia Duncan vs Rob Bonta, Attorney General of California, assigned to Roger Benitez of the US District Court of San Diego.

One might reasonably ask 'why is the en banc panel taking so long?'

Two reasons, I think.

One, there are no deadlines for US District Courts of Appeal.

Two, they're waiting for the Presidential Election in November, to be able to predict who gets to appoint the next couple justices to the Supreme Court.

And I'll leave it to others to research, but what other gun laws have passed in California since May of 2017?

Duncan is probably an outstanding showcase. We lost it twice. No matter what principles SCOTUS applies, 9CA finds a way to ignore them. Technically, it's still with 9CA, but there is zero doubt it will be ruled out in a favor of the State. The case very clearly shows the bias and injustice.

Today is 6 months since oral arguments. It would be nice to see a judgment, but as Librarian mentioned, it will likely be delayed indefinitely pending election results.

Next Wednesday 11/20 will be 8 months from oral arguments in Duncan. The elections are over and this simple ruling is long overdue. Several other cases were "held pending Duncan". Anybody have any insider information on this?

No insider information, but 8 months is outrageous! SCOTUS in its supervisory role should step in and put an end to this BS.

Why would the 9th be motivated to rule at this point?….They know that The Eunuchs of SCOTUS will override them, that The Eunuchs of SCOTUS will likely grow stronger after the Trump election, so by sitting on it indefinitely the current laws will continue to be enforced, and all the other cases pending the Duncan case will continue to be enforced as well. The 9th IMO sees this business of curtailing 2A rights as their “duty”, as a form of acknowledgment of the wishes of those who appointed them. What we are seeing (and have been for many decades now) is the fruit of long-ago elections. We put those politicians and democrats in office who are laughing as they sodomize the citizens.

This should brighten everybody’s day.
