Foreword: Not trying to make this a political Democrats vs Rebuplicans ad nauseam.
I see a lot of anti-gun/2A politicians, left leaning (Not a debate or trash talking, just a fact) say the AR-15 is an “Assault Weapon” (Made up term by the way) and that they are “weapons of war.”
These anti-gun politicians go on to say that the AR-15 is what are war fighters use, blah, blah. Everyone here has heard the rhetoric and talking points from the same politicians so no need to list them all.
But this got me thinking, most police departments, sheriff’s, Department of Corrections, etc issue the AR-15 to their employees. Hands down it is the most issued rifle to LEO’s across all Fifty states.
So it stands to reasons, by the anti-gun politicians stance, if we except that AR-15’s are weapons of war, LEO’s across America are at war with the civilians they swore an oath to protect. Being a US Citizen and a criminal does not mean you stop being a citizen. Why are the politicians okay with this. I get America could be doing better, but it’s not an active war zone.
These same anti-gun politicians though have no problem being protected by LEO’s carrying “Weapons of War” and if we’re used to defend said politicians these “WOW” would be used against the very citizens who elected them into office.
We could blame or write it off as hypocrisy, but you would think if these WOW were so dangerous, they would not want them in the very hands of the individuals “LEO’s” as a pretty vocal amount of them wanted to defund the police for having to much power and abusing it.

. and im pretty sure the weapons of war is part of what the 2a was written for, and in Us v Miller they argued weapons not used in military service could be regulated. which you know contradicts the "anti gun" people you are talking about.
