Best Las Vegas shooting experience?

My 21 yr old son and I will have some spare time, about 3 hours, while in Las Vegas soon and was considering a shooting experience to cap off our trip before heading to the airport. We’d be doing this in the afternoon (pushing 90 degree temps), coming from South of Vegas on I15 where we’ll be at the track driving exotics, no rental car, so would prefer something closer to the strip and indoors or shaded.

There are a number of these places offering full auto rifles and stuff I’ll never own for myself - $2 a round seems to be the going rate, is steep, but I’ll probably never do this again.

Is this going to be a memory maker, or a big waste of time? (It’s a forgone conclusion that it’s a waste of money)

Has anyone here done it and would you recommend a spot, or not?

Thanks for chiming in - Battlefield Vegas had caught my eye - looking into it further now. We’re doing Speed Vegas … I’ve had that one locked in for a while. (y)
 
Got back last night - we saw Mystere and ate some nice ribeyes on Sunday then hit Speed Vegas Monday morning and headed back up to Battlefield Vegas before making our way to the airport. We each shot the Seal Team Six package and Pvt Ryan package and squeezed off a couple of 50 cal rounds. Lot of fun, the range and variety is really something else and was an experience we’ll talk about forever.
 
Nice! Good timing - my fiancé is begging me to take her to a concert in Vegas in May and this might be the thing that makes it worthwhile…

How was the Speed Vegas experience? Did you actually get to drive the exotics for a decent amount of time and do you actually get to drive them hard? I have track experience so curious if you can really brake late, wring out the gears, turn off TC and get a little sideways, etc or if they have strict rules that limit you

My son drove and I spectated (we both did the drifting ride along) - he was concerned about things being too “limited” - literally and figuratively. This was his first time on a track and behind the wheel of a true high performance car.

Here’s what I know / gathered -

They encourage use of the paddles - but certain cars they instructed the driver to stay within a range (not lower than 3rd in the AMG GTR for instance).

Accelerate as hard as you want coming out of the turns - there’s a nice straight between turn 10 and 1 that’s good for about 140 in the right car.

Stomp on the brakes, or brake gently … depends on the car (and maybe the coach?). He was instructed to brake hard in the McLaren, but brake gently in the R8.

Nannies … the cars that have them, use them. The McLaren had none, so none to use … go nuts!

Passing didn’t seem too problematic- the coaches coordinate the pass and do place a hand on the wheel.

Standard arrangement is to drive each selection 5 laps - the circuit is about 1.3 miles if I recall. My son was satisfied with the number of laps, rules, turn arrangement and coaches. While we were there someone put in about 30 laps in a GT3 - just mentioning to say you can probably design your own experience for the right price.

They suggested if you have track experience that they’re more permissive - prove you’re competent and you can probably do most anything you want within reason.
 
I’ve never been before but Staccato has a shooting range out there. Looks fun
