California Gun Tax Lawsuit

It’s pure theft by the state. California’s legislature does nothing to solve the problems destroying the state, and they spend far too much time thinking about how to make gun owners’ lives miserable.
 
I hope we win that one.
Its Californias long game plan. They tax stuff to the point we can't/won't pay it, so we quit buying new stuff.
Then tell gun stores they can't charge more than $x.xx for a ppt.
Forces the gun stores to go out of business. We already cant buy out of state. 2 generations later, no guns in Cali without ever actually banning them.

As a side note, I special ordered a gun a month ago. First time ordering something semi custom (left handed) also my first really expensive gun. I paid $1500 just in tax.

I’m sorry that you have to go through this blatant abuse of politics.

As a retired USAF officer I simply belong to my nearby base Rod and Gun Club, which happens to be an FFL for firearms importation into Kalifornia, and it totally circumvents the abusive state tax on firearms.

If it succeeds, how about we are to be compensated ALL of our money back in excise tax; not just a portion. Wow, what a great compromise, we all win; even the state because they get to pay us back. Probably buy us a FREE gun or maybe a few FREE guns after they cut the check; call it a late Christmas present returned by the grinch.

The real rabbit hole will be the grant ecosystem behind this tax.

A lot of this money gets distributed through CalVIP to nonprofits/NGO/community orgs. Since most nonprofits file public 990s someone could probably map out exactly who is receiving funding and where it’s going. eg similar w the Glock CA roster status style sleuthing.

No, doesn't work. The form 990 will show how much income the nonprofit had, not where the income came from. It shows donations, but government grants are usually accounted for as payment for program work.
