so what's involved with purchasing #10 caps, black powder and lead balls for a cap and ball revolver in so california?
 
Driving to your local store that has them and not much else. Shipping involves hazmat fees. A missed delivery that requires a signature could require going well out of your way to a centralized shipper warehouse to recover the package. Ask me how I know
 
You can easily mail(internet) order everything you need, including weapons. All from the comfort of your home, without the government interfering. Not too long ago we did a order from Powder Valley, which included caps, powder, etc.
 
Not all #10 caps are the same. Remington #10 and CCI #11 are pretty close, so you might get some of both and see which ones fit better.
 
The cool thing about black powder shooting is that you can make everything yourself. Make your own black powder from stuff you can buy at the local garden shop; it's super easy. Cast your own lead ball... you'd be surprised hi ow easy it is to find cheap lead sinkers at yard sales. And the caps can be made with the Tap-a-cap Also consider upgrading the nipples to Treso or others that are more consistent with American cap sizes...you won't regret it. Track of the Wolf is a great place to buy from.

Black powder guns are still the ultimate prepper gun, IMO. 😁
 
Be very, very, sure of what you are doing if you try to make your own black powder.
 
I used to use Pyrodex in my cap&ball but got tired of pulling the trigger, having the cap off and count to 2 sometimes 3 before the gun would go off. I only real black powder now because of that. Also the fake stuff won't work in Flintlocks, I have several cap&ball, only one percussion rifle and many flintlock so I keep a stock of powder in various F..g's always less then 5lbs of course since I read that is the limit the state allows for a residence. True or false I don't care, I keep less than 5lbs. I have not found a store in Calif. that sells real Black powder in years, I order online, along with no. 10 and 11 caps.
