Yes I'm going there. You completely missed the simile I made. Sporting Clays is a game. It's not hunting. If you hunt, cool. Go hunt and stop telling people who compete in a game that it's not as cool as hunting. We all know these activities began as an alternative to hunting or shooting live birds for fun. But they've since diverged quite a bit. I know good hunters who can't hit a clay. And I know plenty of Master Class NSCA shooters who have never shot a live bird. Doesn't mean anything.

If you're a beginner, Coyote's targets are great for you as they're all on the easy side. If you're not a beginner, it gets boring fairly quickly because the targets never change and the target variety is also lacking (only standard clays and rabbits are available, no midis, no minis, no battues).

I don't even understand the highlighted words. At least I know what "rabbit" means in this context. I guess this range matches my skill level. I don't even own the required shotgun

I am a beginner in Skeet, wish more places have Skeet. Livermore has nice Trap ranges, but not Skeet. Is it because more costly to setup the high/low houses?

Just curious are people expecting Coyote Valley to be a place for registered shoots? I've never been there and heard good things about the place

I love Coyote Valley. Don't go as often as I like, have always gone with friends and rented golf carts. Really a premium shooting experience, great environment, good vairety of shots. They used to rent high quality Browings O/U's for $0.10 a shot, not sure what they charge now, I finlly invested in an O/U during covid. For the poster who didn't think it was hard enough, interesting perspective, and one that I haven't heard before. You must go there a lot to get bored of it. Did you ever do the Mountain COurse?

The terrace is one of my favorite parts, sit outside in the shade after a couple hundred rounds and drink beer, it's like a ory club. BBQ at lunch is also awesome. Really one of the best ways to spend a day with the guys. We call it "golf with guns!"

It was the first place I shot sporting clays. Rented a Beretta and a Browning, hired an instructor for an hour and had a great time. Drove home and ordered a Beretta SP1 Sporting. I thought it was a nice place with friendly staff. Sun Mountain is only 1.5 hrs from home and I go a few times a year.

I live close to Sun Mountain and go up there frequently. They're hosting a NSCA shoot tomorrow!

Not many in the Bay Area except those who compete are going to drive 160+ miles one way just to check out a different range lol.
This thread is not about what range is better, it's about letting others that might live here know about it and those that do frequent it talk about it.
If you want to make a thread about the Sun Valley Gun Club then please do, it gives exposure to those who might not know about it yet live close by.
Fresno is a long way away from the South Bay Area my friend.

Just thought I'd share last week I was consistently breaking the clay on high/low houses from Station 8 and getting splashed with the broken pieces, nothing dangerous, just fun getting rained on by the clay I broke.

Then give it a try and make a thread for it as this is about CVSC, it's also almost a hundred miles away if not more from anyone in the South Bay Area.
I used to shoot Pheasant in that area back in the late 70's-early 80's at a hunting preserve, 5 bucks a bird on one's ticket but they dressed & wrapped them at the clubhouse, even in those days the drive was over an hour but it was for hunting, not shooting clays.
