CRPA Dinner in September

I am not sure where to post this, but the CRPA would appreciate all the exposure it can get...the dinner will consist of smoked tri-tip and all the fixings and sides. A large salad bar to start things off. Last year, over $50,000 was raised for the CRPA.

The CRPA is holding its 2nd annual fundraiser at The Compton Hunting and Fishing Club this year, the Wild West Liberty Fest, featuring live country music, exciting auctions, raffles, games, and a delicious dinner all to benefit the CRPA Foundation! Just a week from Saturday! I will be one of the cooks. A huge salad bar, smoked tri-tip, smoked baked beans, au gratin potatoes and dessert is the menu. Door price will be higher than if you buy now. Lots of games and raffles! Win guns!

Compton Hunting and Fishing Club 1625 Sportsman Drive, Compton. Where Atlantic goes under the 710 Freeway...turn south on Sportsman Dr (you can only go one way on that street and it deadends at our club. It is easy to miss - it is not quite under the freeway overpass.) Sept 27. Starting at 3 PM. If you are nervous about Compton, see pictures of our grounds. It is all fenced, too. We have been there since 1946 and not a single crime other than an infrequent break-in at our trailer storage yard. Ask anyone who has attended the last event or any of our FNRA dinners - often the highest net to gross dinner in the country.

Turn out was lighter than we expected and hoped for - probably 80 people. Everyone loved the food, lots of people won guns and there was lots of other stuff. There was some original artwork done on plywood. One picture of the moon over the ocean was very striking with the wood grain painted to match the waves. Since the club donates the facilities, the food and the staff, almost everything made is profit. (I am sure there is some cost associated with the raffle items if they are not donated.) This will help fund the fight to finalize the overturn of the background check for ammo, magazine capacity limits, the safe handgun roster, the 11% excise tax on guns and ammo and all the other good fights the CRPA is funding.

A BIG thank you to all who attended. My feet, ankles and knees reminded me Sunday that I am getting old.

I spoke to our chairman for this event a little while ago and he is hopeful that we hit or exceeded $50,000 again. That is not gross but the actual donation amount raised. We are quite proud that this event is probably the single biggest fundraiser for the CRPA.
