I have a spreadsheet with all my guns, what I paid for them or remember paying for them in case of the ones I bought long ago. Copies of DROS and receipts also in the sheet, at least for the ones bought in the last decade, before that I was not organized. But surprisingly I found the receipt in a box for my very first gun ever back in 1976 (S&W mod 66), proudly scanned it and put it in spreadsheet. And by the way, I have never sold a gun.

That spreadsheet is out of date now that I type this, I just bought and finished a Kibler Long Rifles flintlock a few weeks ago, I have to add it to the spreadsheet when done typing here. But yes I know how many exactly.

Also have a rough estimate spreadsheet for ammo, but I shoot and reload too much for that to be accurate

I was asked this today, and after pausing for a moment I said "No, not off the top of my head. Do you know how many shoes you own?"

She didn't.

So, do you know how many guns you have?

I keep a wheel book with serial numbers. The only time I look at it is when I buy (add) or sell (subtract). I don’t keep a hard count as the number is always changing, and I find keeping anything but a running count futile.

I have my inventory written down (well typed) on a spreadsheet as well with serial numbers and values for the insurance co, but it isnt numbered

I also have a crazy spreadsheet on all my guns. Including all my long guns, AR Builds, Inventory of Parts/Accessories. The file has 12 worksheets inside it. It started off small about 11 years ago, made a spreadsheet of previous guns that I've owned from 80's, and then just added more and more info over the years. It has a lot info, including Serial Numbers, DROS Numbers, FFL, Transaction Date, Pics and who I bought/sold the gun from in PPT. Also, every penny I ever spent on it, and on what.

I also have a spreadsheet for ammo, although I might only update that once a year to do an inventory, because it's just too much to make updates after every range trip.
