They might give you some weird looks, but I don't see why not. As Sparky mentioned, as long as you qualify with it and it's mechanically sound, shouldn't be a problem. The only problem I see is that it's chambered in .38 Auto and unless you roll your own, I don't think you're going to have much luck finding .38 Auto defense ammo. I'm sure you are aware that .38 Auto and .38 Super, while diminsionally identical, are not the same thing and that ammo marked as .38 Super, Super Auto, Super ACP, Super ACP +P etc (all the same round, just marked differently depending on the manufacturer) shouldn't be fired in guns chambered in .38 Auto/.38 ACP. Then there's the argument of using handloads for defense ammo as opposed to ammo from a "reputable" manufacturer. Not an argument I'm going to get into. Just something to consider and be aware of so that you can decide for yourself.

Very cool handgun!

Looks a lot like a S&W 422 or a model 41. I wonder if Colt and Smith borrowed or stole ideas from one another….?
 
Woodhouse, a few questions:

Where are you finding a reliable source of factory .38 ACP ammo? Or are you reloading it? And if you are reloading, are you able to use your reloads to test, and for your concealed carry ammo?

I reload all of my ammo these days! Except 9mm and 22lr because they’re dirt cheap

I doubt they’d let me try and qualify with non-factory ammo unfortunately, this was more of a joke post for a handgun I love. I couldn’t bear to have this beauty stuck in an evidence locker
 
Why not... I had one of my SIG P210s on my CCW. As long as it meets caliber requirements and you can qualify with it?
