EDPS USPSA Match (El Dorado Hills) 3/15 Anyone Going? (My First Match)

I'll be shooting my first match tomorrow at EDPS, anyone else going to be there?

Very excited, especially since I got some new shoes, lol. Checked out a lot of folks recommendations both online and some in person, visited a few stores today and wound up with the most comfortable hiking type shoe, which was at Big 5 of all places, lol. Appreciate all the advice!

I'm on Squad 3, shooting in Open. Looks like only 3 folks shooting in Open at the match.

Main Goal: Don't get DQ'd & Learn
Sub Goal: Have Fun
Sub Sub Goal: Do well, but honestly have no expectations.

Coming off a sprained ankle a few weeks ago, I don't move fast, lol.



Will be shooting the Sand Viper, unless is blows up then I'll be shooting one of my Glock 34's. If you're there, feel free to come check out the Sand Viper any time at the Safe Table.

Where in Eldorado hills? Got a link to details? I’m doing an intro to USPSA class next month and was planning on doing my first match next month but if they accept late volunteers I might swing by tomorrow morning to help and watch/ask questions

Bring eye and ear protection and watch. Ask questions. I’m sure they won’t mind.

So I'm not going to be at this weekend's match, but I shoot IDPA and USPSA there often. You will have a good time. It is a great group of folks. Take advantage of not going first as much of the match as you can so you can watch others tackle the stages first.

Truly just focus on safe gun handling tomorrow. Biggest problem areas are with not indexing while moving and during reloads, the 180 on reloads, and ensuring you go high compressed to go around walls rather than sweeping gun first around them.

You will see some very experienced, fast moving shooters. Don't let their proficiency make you feel like you have to rush. That gets new people into DQ territory usually. Ask all of your questions, follow SO instructions (and don'tget ahead of them), tape and brass, and finally- please don't rush back to your holster. You aren't timed after your last shot.
