Anyone from the San Diego area planning to go to the Escondido Gun Show this weekend? I’m thinking about checking it out and was hoping to get a sense of what to expect - overall size and vibe, whether it’s worth attending, any vendors or dealers that usually stand out, and if there’s anything particularly interesting to look for (collectibles, gear, ammo, or decent deals).
 
Cant imagine it's anything exciting now since it's CA. Maybe if you collect older guns/black powder, it might be worth looking around. Might see a slight discount on gear and ammo, but guns (CA and off roster) are basically the same price, albeit more selection. Be careful of vendors selling loose parts and accessories - they may be selling airsoft replicas or cheap metal parts. People attending are usually cool and you might even find a deal doing PPT with someone you meet at the show. Oddly enough, I always bought honey or jerky from whichever vendor had their own farm.

I'm going off my experience at Crossroads gun shows, but I'm guessing you'd see the same vendors at GunTV's gun shows.
 
Looking at the size of the building, I'm guessing that if you base your ticket price by the number of minutes it'll take you to go through the show, it'll be about $1.00 per minute. If you're lucky you'll see about 2 guns for each dollar you spent. Look at the satellite view of the facility and compare it to the 20' long parking spots in the parking lot. For every two car lengths, that's 5 tables. How many tables do you think they can put inside the building?
 
I wish I could find my great grandfather’s service revolver. I have no idea of the make, but he had it when he was the sheriff of Escondido back around 1910/1915. His name was Martin Luther Culp. He was also the police chief of Gettysburg before he came to California.

Yep. That’s him. I have some other photos of him. One is a portrait. (He’s carrying.). One is of him directing traffic (Model T’s) in “downtown” Escondido. (Dirt streets.) And some of him at the home he built in Escondido which is now a historical preserved home. In one he’s holding my infant mother.

He would also recite Lincoln’s Gettysburg address every 4th of July at the town picnic. He heard Lincoln give that speech.
 
Can y'all give an update on prices for bulk beef jerky? I can never get anyone to post bulk beef jerky prices despite always hearing that it is more likely a jerky convention than a gun.

The Gettysburg address anecdote really touched me. It's terribly sad that so many people are completely ignorant of or, literally disagree with the sacrifices made by our forefathers. The whole "suckers and losers" mindset is abhorrent.
 
So OP did you go? Been almost a couple of decades since I attended a show here in OC and those were mostly Crossroads shows. What a waste. Wish I had that time back. But I compare my gun show experience to the mighty shows in Pomona that I attended spring and fall, and had a table at for over a decade in the 70’s/80’s.

What are they getting for teriyaki jerky these days? I heard that beanie babies were making a comeback. How about the Indian turquoise jewelry? Any of that stuff there?

I didn’t make it there today but have plans to check it out tomorrow.
 
The show was smaller than expected and felt more like a swap meet than a traditional gun show. There were lots of knife and taser vendors, a limited firearm selection from only 3 gun stores (2 local and 1 from Upland), and two ammunition vendors. There was one beef jerky vendor and one dry rub vendor. I attended with my wife and son, and they purchased a few items to support local businesses. Overall, it did not meet my expectations, and I’d rather stick to this community for better deals.
