Pics Family treasures

Took these two out this week. My wife's grandfathers.

The Colt 1908 380 needs a new recoil spring and a new mag spring. Getting periodic FTF issues.

The Beretta Model 70 Puma in .32 is a peach to shoot.

Love 'em! Hopefully you can get that Colt sorted out and running like a top again. It's good to keep these old pieces going strong.

Here's a few .22s that won't be going anywhere and shoot extremely well, except the EP 22, oh well. PAX

I took my daughter shooting for the first time last week. We started with some small-caliber stuff to get her into the swing of it. This was a great excuse to pull a couple of family treasures out of the safe. Now, these may not be treasures to everyone, but they sure are to my family.

The rifle is a Stevens Ideal no. 44. It was produced from 1894 until ~1947 in various calibers. It's an all metal & wood, rolling (falling, tipping) block, single shot .22LR with semi-buckhorn sights and possibly the most awkward buttplate. It weighs 7.5 pounds, or about a pound less than an SKS paratrooper! This rifle belonged to my wife's grandfather, the longtime Sheriff of her small town in Eastern Oklahoma. After all these years, it still absolutely drives tacks!

The pistol is a Jennings J-25. Production of these started in the late 70s (so, yeah, I guess not technically C&R yet) and, well... if you don't know the history of the "ring of fire" handguns, you should educate yourself. I'll wait. Where were we? Oh, yes, incoming hate in 3... 2... but, wait! Before you talk too much 💩 about the handgun or the round, bear in mind that this was my grandfather's everyday pocket pistol for years. A former coal miner and military vet, him and my grandmother ran a country store in the small town in Vermont where I grew up. This man drank black coffee and chain smoked as long as I can recall and he was tough as nails. He once hit a would-be robber with a bat and held him in a scissor- lock until the cops arrived. I think he was in his 70s. After he passed, this pistol is the only thing I asked for of his. It even had the OG box. And, you know what? Despite all the internet hate, once I meticulously cleaned and lubed it, it's been a very reliable pistol.

So, what about you, new friends? Do you have any interesting family treasures?
The Stevens Favorite/Ideal is my family treasure as well. Top was my grandfathers (pre-1915 in 32 Long). Unfortunately 32 rimfire is long since obsolete, so will never be shot by me. Picked up a 1983 Savage/Stevens Model 72 in 22LR to be able to shoot something similar.

Those are awesome!!! I feel like these rifles don't get enough love. Have you tried making a WTB post for the ammo? I can almost guarantee someone on here has at least a few rounds kicking around. I'd want to shoot it, at least once.

Only one is this 9mm EAA Witness that belonged to my now-deceased uncle. She’s an early 90s girl and shoots like a dream. It is up to me to start the family jewel’s collection for the future lol have a few 1911s my daughters have already called dibs on

That's a great- looking pistol!

I've got a predecessor to EAA, Tanfogilo FAB 92 in "Wonder" finish, nickel, very scarce setup as such.
Here it is with its Italian cousin, Beretta FS92 Stainless. Both great shooters, PAX
