Feed Issues - Kel-tec Sub 2000 - Amend2 Glock 17 mags

I purchased a new Kel-Tec Sub 2000, along with some Amend2 Glock 17 magazines. All items were made to be CA compliant, before being shipped to my FFL. For the Sub2000 that means a fin grip was mounted. For the magazines, they were blocked to limit them to 10 rounds.

I finally got to shoot them this weekend, and it was very very underwhelming. At least 5 or 6 times I pulled the trigger, and.....click. First time it happened, I was afraid it might have been a light strike. So I set the gun down pointing downrange, and waiting. When I pulled the action, I was expecting a round to come out; but it didnt. At that point I realized it just failed to feed a round in to the chamber. I released the action, and click. Same thing. I pulled the magazine, and fiddled with it. Then was able to get it to shoot maybe two more rounds, and same thing.

I swapped mags, and had it happen at least once or twice on another magazine. On the other hand, I think I used the magazine that came with it for the first 10 rounds. I recall it worked without issue.

At the end of the day, the kel-tec is a very cheap firearm. So not sure what my expectations should be. But I would expect it to work substantially better than it did. Out of the 30 rounds I shot, I had at least a half dozen times of it not feeding a round. So now I need to figure out is it just total garbage magazines. Or do I need to contact Kel-tec to have them do some warranty work on the gun.

Anyone have any experience in this arena? Anyone got a better recommendation for magazines?

It's garbage magazines. Spend the money on a actual Glock brand magazine and the re-evaluate.

I second the magazines being suspect.

OP, try factory Glock mags and see what happens. My Sub-2k’s feed fine all day long using Glock mags.

It's unanimous, get some Glock mags.

I think more felons own Amend2 magazines than actual law-abiding gun owners.

The Sub2K is a simple gun with nothing much to go wrong. If the stock mag feeds fine... either mags you bought or the blocking job!

Sounds a bit like the rounds or spring are sticking so rounds aren't pushed up into the path of the bolt to be stripped from the mag and chambered. I've had to take mags apart and clean and lube (Slip2000 applied lightly and wiped "dry"), but the above opinions indicate the mags might not be so good or worth the time?

One of the awesome members of this board reached out to me. They're going to be selling me some spare Glock mags they have. So I should be good to go. But I think I'll probably crack these open, and lube them up. If it does the trick, then I can always keep them as spares. If it doesnt, then I'm gonna bin them.

Good idea.

Remember guys saying to get a Glock follower for kci mags. So maybe a different follower, springs and cleaning will do the job? At that point, might be better to simply find some used Glock mags like you’ve done.

Be sure to update this thread. I have the same carbine and sad to say I haven’t shot it.
