FFL Muffed the paperwork

Well had a new one happen over the weekend, 15 or more purchase/buys and never had the FFL call and tell me they muffed the paperwork on my buyers DROS
and that I had to come back in and redo the entire thing. Tough to do when your at work...."Long Lunch" today.

Anyone else had this happen? At least they said the DROS fee was on them!

There are ways to mitigate mistakes from happening, but trust me when I say that California's DROS system was designed to fail, and doesn't allow for any kind of corrections to customer personal info if there's a mistake. You can make a 1 time edit to the gun's information in case you do something like mess up the serial, but if customer address/birthplace etc. is wrong, unfortunately the only option is to cancel the DROS and start the 10 day process all over again, or it's the FFL's ass when the DOJ comes to audit.

If you understood the hoops that FFLs have to jump through to make sure all the paperwork is correct and up to date for the CA DOJ, or how ruthless they are about mistakes, your head would spin.

I know that's cold comfort for the customer that gets screwed over, but everyone's human and sometimes just happens. FFLs aren't happy about it either, and would love nothing more than to just sell you a gun, pass your 4473, and have you happily be on your way like everyone else that actually lives in the United States. Personally though, if it were me I'd probably do something like throw in a free box of ammo or give you some store credit for the trouble.

AmmoBros Cerritos messed up a dros for a ppt I did. I am like close to 1hr round trip from them. I told the buyer, I will try to make it up before his 10 days, but he was adamant I needed to go ASAP and guess he was having AmmoBros keep calling me. With that shenanigans in mind, the buyer offered $30 gas fee, and I had to wait out couple more days anyways, then AmmoBros calls and says theyll give couple boxes of ammo.

Needless to say, I decided to make my way there before 10 days up. Got 30 for gas and 3 boxes of 9mm.

Say what you will about Sportsman's Warehouse, but they have a manager come over to review the paperwork as well as have you sign off on it.

I had turner's garf up a new pistol DROS (shocking, right?) and I had to go back and have them redo it with the right pistol. Like, 15 years ago? That was the last time I bought a gun from turd-ner's. I also had Bass Pro "lose" my pistol somehow during the 11 day wait. That was the last time I bought from Bass Pro.

Seems all the big guys are kinda retarded. It's been all 2AZone since.

Many years ago Martin B Rettings gave me the DROS paperwork . I live about 90 minutes away from them. I got a phone call demanding that I come back immediately. They informed me that I broke the law. I informed them that it was their fault, not mine.

I explained that they could pick up the paperwork at my house. Suddenly, it was not that urgent. They had me mail it back to them. That place was FUD central.

Yeah this is true. DROS allows no corrections. They expect the FFL to eat the $37.19 and resubmit everything again. You would think for $37.19 per transaction, the taxpayer would get a better software solution. Nope. However, there are plenty of ways an FFL, who is responsible for making sure things are correct, can make this re-DROS process easy for you. And that is the difference between a good gun shop and a bad gun shop. 100% if a shop ever calls you threatening you because they made a mistake on the paperwork, tell them it isn't your audit and until they call back offering you to compensate you for your time, this conversation is over. Assuming you already have your gun that is.
