Looking to get separate insurance to insure my firearms and Nightvision components. Homeowners doesn’t want anything to do it, and even looking at a separate renter’s insurance, they won’t issue new policies for CA.

Not having to submit Serial #s is a plus!

So far I’ve found Collectibles Insurance. They’re about $350/yr for $50k coverage. But they don’t offer jewelry insurance which I’d like to add as well.

Anybody else have any other recommendations? Jewelry addition would be a plus, but may just have to get something else for that

The NRA offers firearms arms insurance, which is provided by Lockton. I've been using them for a while. Never made a claim, but I've been using them for a little while now. No issues. Not sure if they do jewelry. I believe they only ask for serial numbers if the gun is worth over a certain amount.

AAA in N cal does not have a limit of liability, with the exception to percentage of Schedule C, to firearms. In addition they will cover your defense in the event suit is brought against a covered insured. I also carry an umbrella policy for an additional million in liability coverage. And yes, they are still writing in CA. This is in reference to the homeowner's policy HO-3, the renters/condo policy HO-6 does have a limit of liability on firearms.

DM for a wonderful agent reference. (my wife ;-)

Do they require serial numbers at start of policy?

I do not have a problem of providing serial numbers to an insurer that is providing coverage for my firearms. How else can they know what losses they are protecting? On the other hand, I need to be assured that they will not provide any information I provide without a search warrant signed by a judge.

Yes.. I have been buying various business policies for over 40 years... I can say as of late in Calif. the very liberal mindset of our leaders have done NOTHING to make people responsible for there actions and pilling on regulations therefore driving rates up and insurance companies out of this state! Our commissioner is more concerned with pushing his sexual orientation and his poor up bringing than what he is doing to help our insurance crisis in this state!

After doing some online research, I can't find anyone who has anything bad to say about Gun and Trophy. They seem to be very highly regarded, and one of the agents is a regular contributor on a couple of the forums. So long, Lockton!

I’m also considering Gun and Trophy, but need to contact them in regards to covering DTNVGs in the policy
