First Range Trip With the Sig P365 – Initial Impressions From a Longtime Glock User

Finally took the plunge and picked up a standard Sig P365. Yes, I know I'm (super) late to the party . I ran about 300 rounds through it during my first range trip.

TLDR for those that would rather read about the review than watch a video:

Figured I’d share some initial impressions, especially coming from someone who’s been a Glock guy for years (my current EDC is a Glock 43).

What I Tested:

-Factory 10-round flush mag
-10-round mag with extended base
-“X” magazine with grip filler

I wanted to see how the different grip/mag options affected controllability. With the X mag & grip filler it was much easier to control when firing quickly, no surprise there.

What I Liked:

Grip texture is surprisingly good from the factory

Accuracy was solid out to ~15 yards; last group of 3 was touching

Modularity is where the P365 shines – fire control unit, grip modules, optics-ready, light support, etc. I like the loaded chamber indicator and even the manual safety on the CA-version (rare for me to say)

Sig nailed it with OEM magazine compatibility — X/XL and even X-Macro mags & beyond.

What Gave Me Pause: Once I got out to 25 yards, my groups really opened up (fist-sized or larger) — not what I’m used to, I still shoot my G43 noticeably better at this point Might be me, might be the gun breaking in — too early to say

Final Verdict (for now): Very impressed with what Sig did with this platform. The modularity is wild, and I want to like it more than I do right now — just need more time with it. It's not going to replace my Glock 43 (yet), but it’s a damn cool piece, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

A Hogue sleeve grip helped me control this tiny gun. I bought an optic for it but I haven't used it since getting my license, sticking to irons. It's a good little pistol.

My brother got an X-Macro a few months ago. Feels great in the hand, trigger sucks and the controls were tiny and stiff. Very stiff and slim. By the time you buy all the crap you need to transform your pistol into something else, your damn near the cost of a whole other pistol that you don’t have to change anything on, you just grab it.

First thing people wanna do, certainly the first thing I would do, is put a lower half that’s made out of metal on it. That’s more than half the cost of a new 365 right there.

I believe it should, let me measure them. I have a radian comp on my G19, I’ll post a side by side when I get a chance

Did some searching and yes it’ll work but you’ll have to get a P365XL slide and XL radian ramjet to accomplish a flush fit like I have on mine. I’m actually looking to build another one with Icarus lower but need to find a cheap p365xl on Calguns or here lol… don’t wanna pay 20 % tax for a new one lmao

LOL. I feel you. I have a P225 and decided recently it was time to leave the 80's behind.

Tried the P365 XL Comp Rose, S&W Shield X, and Hellcat Pro Comp. I with the Hellcat. Haven't added it to the license yet. Need some more time with it and will be adding a red dot I want to get used to first.

Honestly I was hating on my X-Macro a little just because I EDC it and wanted to change for something that might be a little better (or less boring). So I did a shoot off over two range sessions using mostly Federal hollow points and some 124Gr FMJ. (I wanted to compare assuming a real-life self-defense scenario) since I only carry hollow points. As much as I wanted to choose the 43x, for me the X-Macro did better, or I should say I did better with the X-Macro. I'm sure it's the comp but I shot it better and it was flatter (return to zero) and less recoil than the 43x - I'm staying with the X-Macro.

Magtech 115g both steel case & brass case, speer gold dot 124g +p, my reloads, range reloads. It's still the same every time I bring it out, none of my other pews have this type of thing going on between 15 & 25 yards. It's not like the accuracy is unacceptable, just strange.
