First USPSA stage

Yeah but you did it 100 seconds faster than me LOL so I’ve got some extra room to improve over you
Well, you could slice that a million different ways, right? I have a Sand Viper with an Optic and am a couple matches ahead of you in my journey. There are folks that knocked it out several seconds faster than me too. You'll catch on fast. As with anything if you have the want to improve you will. My first Classsifier I got a procedural on, which absolutely wrecked my HF, so feel great that you were able to knock it out without getting DQ or any procedurals!

Oh I’m very happy with how I did, I started this journey about a month ago (by “journey” I mean starting to read/watch videos, practice dry fire at home, practice more than just slow fire bullseye shooting at the range, etc). I’m sure the Sand Viper helps but I’ve watched a couple of your videos and I think it’s clear you’re a couple steps ahead of me. All the more reason for me to practice more and catch up 😉.

I snagged a couple of used targets that were gonna be thrown away so I’ll probably set those up in my car port for dry fire training and use that as a dedicated space for training movement, transitions, etc. I need to clean it first though 😅 it’s a mess from different projects and metal shavings everywhere from forging/grinding knives. Might even break out the CO2 G19 BB gun to use as a training tool (though I’m planning on using my CZ75 for now, maybe my DWXc when I get a holster, and then my SP01 once it’s out of jail and back from CGW.

I think I will probably stick to production with the SP01 first, try to conquer B class, then maybe mill it for an optic and go CO.

Glad to hear it! There are folks all over the spectrum as far as why they are there and all of that sort of stuff. I've seen folks shooting 10+ years USPSA and in C Class and completely content. Sounds like you're not one of those types of folks, neither am I. I'm hoping to get B off the rip and then go up from there, sky is the limit! Based off what I've seen so far from the local matches GM's are very fast/proficient shooters for sure, but not far beyond the realm of possibility for most able bodied folks that really want to get after it. As they say "If there's a will, there's a way"

I'd be happy to link up and go run drills, or even go to mid week practices etc since we're not too far from each other. It's always good to have folks that will push you, close to you. I push myself just by watching other folks and checking practiscore, but there aren't any folks out at the matches that are pushing me directly for example.

Yeah no shade to those people, I have hobbies where I’m happy futzing around being decent and not wanting to spend a lot of time/effort getting better, but generally I prefer to push myself. USPSA seems like a good challenge and I’m up for testing myself.

I’m down, a little pressure from a buddy is very useful to keep you on track. PM me, we can either meet at one of our places or at a range that holds mid week practice. I’m signed up for Lincoln on Wed if you want to come, but generally I have a lot of flexibility and could plan to do a weekly practice somewhere else nearby. I’m in East Sac but get off work around 2-2:30 (and can push that if needed) so can probably make any of the mid week practices work

So I took the Intro to USPSA course in Sac (er, Davis) at Yolo Sportsman’s Association today and had a BLAST! We got to shoot 3 stages after the classroom portion and it was so much fun, I’m totally hooked. I got in to the match tomorrow from the waitlist so gonna head back tomorrow morning to officially shoot my first match!

Here’s a video of one of the stages; i was trying to not rush and DQ which was a success. My next goal is to work towards B class by end of the year. Any thoughts/critiques welcome! Shot with a stock G19 (factory (-) connector only):

I shoot my first match Sat after a similar class. I’m hooked as well.

Is there a similar intro to USPSA course in/around LA? Did not see any courses are Gopher Flats, and Shooters Paradise in Oxnard is temporarily closed due to fire.
Hello, I am up in santa clarita and have been looking for something similar. I just want a little idea of how it goes down before diving in to an actual match. Check this link out if you have a Practiscore account:

It seems like this group above hosts a training for USPSA once a month out of Piru which isn't that far from the valley and definitely not far from santa clarita. Also, only costs $150. I'm guessing they just rent the space from CTA for the day. Unfortunately I have scheduling conflicts on 5/9 but hoping to get to one soon before diving into a real match.

Another option seems to be through CTA itself. See the link below:

This one is twice the price though but it looks like it happens a couple times a month.
