Frustration with unresponsive sellers in the classified section

I know that there's a whole bunch of brand new members caguns and many of them are here to sell firearms and accessories. What's becoming incredibly frustrating is somebody posting an ad for an item for sale, and then not coming back onto this website for 72 Plus hours or more. As a buyer, it's unbelievably frustrating wanting to purchase the item yet the seller has no response for you for days on end. I really don't know if there's anything that can be done for this but it seems to me that if you're going to put an item up for sale you should have the decency to check back at least once a day to see if there are any questions that need to be answered from prospective buyers or set something up with a buyer who is committing to purchase that item but just can't move forward because the selling party is M.I.A. Thoughts?

I like to think Im a great seller but I have things on craigslist and sometimes I will just ignore people trying to buy sometimes. Im not trying to be rude but I have a lot going on sometimes and can't add anything else to my plate.,... if I loose a sale I loose a sale.

Just the same with buyers. They ask for details, pics, messages, and then end up disappearing. It's an annoying waste of time. There's just people like that.

My notifications are set up so that if I receive a DM here, I get an email. I don't want to lose out on a sale.

Not everyone spends their lives Tick Tocking, Snapplechatting, and bumping classifieds on caguns. If you don't like the way someone responds, don't buy their stuff. Better yet, block them. Problem solved.

Thats why i reply in minutes usually, but never more than an hour. Then those people take days to respond, lol

We don’t want ratings for not responding we’ve had a lot of issues with people leaving feedback for nothing even if they were rude, which isn’t good. You can leave a comment to let others know you contacted to let others know but feedback is too strong

The point being is that if you're trying to buy something you're hoping the seller will get back to you quickly so you can get something worked out and move forward. Many of us earmark a certain amount of money that we have to buy product. It's happened to me more than once and I'm sure others where you wanted to buy something and during the extended waiting period of hearing back from the seller something else comes up in the marketplace that you also have interested in but there's only enough funds for one. So perhaps you end up buying the second item because the seller had great communication with you. Then a week later the first person gets back to you and asks you did you still want to buy my XXX? I'm not asking people to wholeheartedly dive into this thing and check in every 10 minutes, but I do feel whether it's any classified ad on any website that if you post something for sale, there's a reasonable amount of time in which you should follow up on your ad since people might be interested and your entire goal for posting it in the first place is to sell it, not to string people along. When it comes to leaving feedback for people we always talk about what great communication they had and I think for 95 plus percent of us that's super important. But I guess to each their own

But I think so many new sellers post without really reading any of the rules or just in general have no common sense when it comes to what's a reasonable amount of time to respond. It's somebody posted for sale ad and you literally try and contact them three different times including giving them your cell phone number over the course of a week and not only do they not contact you but you look and see that they haven't even checked the website in a week, should that for sale at even be cluttering up the classifieds??

They’re cycled out every 90 days there was a period where some were able to extend beyond that but we’ll eventually close those out and then they’ll need to recreate the listing. We don’t want to force people to do too much but we do want to nudge people and automatically clean them out. Sometimes people like to go fishing so we just let them.

I’ve had a few folks be unresponsive. A bit frustrating and I’ve simply found a more responsive seller and purchased from them. If the seller’s ad has been up for a while, I understand they aren’t likely checking as often. Still, I would imagine they should be checking at least every other day. Personally, if I am actively buying or selling, I check at least once a day. The unresponsive I mean is that I sent some sort of question/communication indicating interest and then a week or two goes by and still nothing. A few days delay I would never complain about.

Luckily haven't had an issue with sellers. It's the buyers for me. Asking for extra pictures, exchange numbers, all the details and then silence...

I can see if someone had an item up for sale and after a few weeks not check back on a daily basis.

I would probably edit the ad and place an email contact for interested parties to reach me.

Or the seller is motivated and doesn't want to waste time or sully the buying experience. When I'm buying or selling, I'm super responsive.

At a certain point it is not really worth getting frustrated. If someone does not respond, just move on. The system is low commitment by design.

It is also a bit of a numbers game. Some sellers are not realistic on pricing, some are slow, some are just not serious. The ones who are proactive and communicate well are the ones who actually complete deals.

This is not really a true purchasing platform it is just a forum. It works but it depends heavily on communication.

The bigger question is whether it should evolve into something more structured with accountability, or stay as is. If you do that then regulators will step in to shut it down. As it stands the low barrier and zero cost setup is a win win, you just have to operate within that reality.

Personally since I joined I already had several positive purchasing experiences here (4 in the past two months).

Being frustrated on CAguns is pointless and self-destructive. We probably ALL understand your frustrations because anyone who conducts business here has experienced exactly that which you describe.

You must simply understand that you'd be better off understanding that there are good days, and there are bad days. Live your life. Do the best you can. Don't allow things you can't control to ruin your day, your life, your health.

Trust me, I understand. It's easier said than done...

You must simply understand that you'd be better off understanding that there are good days, and there are bad days. Live your life. Do the best you can. Don't allow things you can't control to ruin your day, your life, your health.

Trust me, I understand. It's easier said than done...

I'm just living my life in a 3-foot world.
