Gen 3 Glock – Gen 4/5 Style Mag Release Upgrade?

I stumbled across something interesting for Gen 3 Glock owners.

It’s a Gen 4/5 style magazine release made specifically for Gen 3 frames.

You can’t just drop a Gen 4 release into a Gen 3 (different geometry on the right side of the frame), so this company redesigned it to work after a small frame modification. Installed a few of them.

Observations:

• Minimal grip change required
• Much larger surface area
• Easier actuation
• Feels like a modern Glock
• Around $22
• Requires permanent frame modification

So far, completely reliable. Honestly surprised more people aren’t talking about it.

Not for me. The G34 release is so long that in AIWB or IWB holsters it will release the mag... and it's still not as easy to press as this one. Previous to this mag release, I used the Vickers mag release. Longer than OEM 26/19/17 etc but shorter than the 34/17L mag release. Never had a mag release when I didn't want it to. That said, I still prefer this one by a large margin.

No debate on the Minus type connectors, I have and use a few different ones.

G34 slide release also doesn't work well for me as I actuate it while shooting constantly (high grip). The Vickers slide catch/release has been my favorite for many years. It tapers at the bottom, so it's much less likely to be actuated when you don't intend to (for me), but has a nice shelf at the top so to speak for easy slide release.

As with anything aftermarket, YMMV.
