I recently got my hands on the Gideon Granite MOS, which is a direct-mount red dot designed specifically for Gen 4 and Gen 5 Glock MOS pistols.
The interesting thing about this optic is that it mounts directly to the MOS slide without using adapter plates. That means:
• Lower optic height
• Cleaner install
• Easier co-witness without skyscraper suppressor sights
At roughly $200, it also sits in a price range that could make it attractive for competition shooters or anyone wanting a larger window optic without spending $400+.
In the video I go over my initial impressions, including:
• Glass clarity (very clean, little to no tint)
• Dot brightness (bright even in day light)
• Window size (huge, but with caveats)
• Mounting system (direct to MOS!)
• Controls and usability (easy and out of the way)
• Range footage and shooting impressions
• Pros and cons so far
The large window is one of the biggest selling points. It makes dot tracking and fast target transitions noticeably easier, which could make this a solid option for competition or range use.
This is just a first impressions / initial testing review. I’ll be running it more to see how it holds up long term.
