For some reason people still like Glocks even with all the better options
 
Glock clearly did the math and decided it was cheaper to lose California civilian sales than to try and get the Gen 3 back on the roster with modifications. All the rumors have been saying for years that Glock was looking to discontinue Gen 3 production before this whole mess. My feeling is they wanted to avoid the vindictive 2A community backlash if they did it unilaterally and were waiting for a perfect excuse. Notice the politicians waited until Glock was 100% ceasing Gen 3 production before they added the meaningless exemption, knowing it was a non starter at that point. Now California can blame Glock, saying they gave them an out they didn't take, and Glock can blame California. There seem to a lot of commenters who are convinced Glock will do anything to stay in California, but my feeling is that as long as they have agency sales they don't really care about the civilian market.

Selling the gen 3 was easy money for Glock and honestly, it's one of the best guns on the roster. Sure, there are new guns on the roster but few if any have the aftermarket support. The G19 and G17 were like lego's for adults.

Evidently it wasn't tho. Glock is in a better position to know than we are. They have been looking to ditch Gen 3s for California for a while, considering they couldn't even move production or update machinery. Y'all are way more attached to Glock than Glock is to you. The backlash against them is a perfect indication of why they took this opportunity to cut their losses in Ca. There are a lot of people who seem to believe Glock is desperate to keep Ca sales, mostly out of wishful thinking.
