Gt4 vs 2k11

I saw a Sig 2011 clone thing break a firing pin at a match on Saturday.

The guy was on my squad, started a stage and gun went click. Sucks for that guy because he's going to a big match this weekend I think and there is no way he can get a firing pin within a week.

His other gun is a sig p320 and it's unclear if he can shoot that at the major match he's going to.

The 2K11 also includes an RMR plate so you don’t have to seek out an aftermarket plate for the most common optic footprint vs Sig forcing their SIG-LOC footprint on you.
Well, I guess the first thing to point out is that for its footprint, it doesn't require a plate at all to start with, so there's that. Requiring a plate just means another set of screws that can back out after some spicy mag dumps and heat cycles.

It has a DPP footprint as well, which is not exactly an uncommon option. And, there really is no standard in the optics game - RMR was established around Trijicon's RMR but the rest of the industry didnt follow behind; there are at least 4 "standards". Also, the Trijicon RMR tech is about as old as the footprint itself; a lot like EOTech, it's sitting on 10yr+ tech and reputation rather than improvements and innovation.

FWIW, Sig's new optics that zero with bluetooth is wildly cool tech.

I don’t think it’s wrong to say RMR has the best selling and most popular optics. It’s the closest to a standard there is.

Fair points, but the RMR footprint still does seem to dominate the landscape, though it’s completely understandable that Sig wants to drive its users toward their proprietary optics. Just saying that for folks who have RMR-based optics on hand, the Kimber means you can stick with what you already have without additional expense right out of the gate. Speaking of additional failure points though, as cool as the Bluetooth zeroing seems, that’s introducing another element that can go screwy on you. Don’t get me wrong, I’m curious to check it out myself, but I’m also curious about what sorts of kinks will pop up.

Ha, agree on all fronts; its cool tech, but a part of me wonders how it will turn out in the field as customers end up being the wider cross section of BETA testers! Im willing to be a sucker though - an unabashed Sig fan.

RMR for full size is dominant but it is frustrating that mfgs cant align on a multi-config layout that supports all three without a plate requirement. The challenge with the 2011 platform is they would have to default to an RMSC because the slide is too small (with the exception of the Sig Platform). The other option is a custom build like Steath Arms that build the slide with some hips to accommodate the RMR without a base plate.

I’m still on the fence between the 2k11 vs the gt5.
I have shot the 2k11 target and comp and they both felt very nice. I was leaning towards the gt5 since I can get the comp slide and swap them out when i want to have some fun.
Any recommendations?

I had a chance to look at and hold the GT5, and 2k11 Stainless Comp 5" today.

Based on looks and feel, I would say the 2k11 has a higher attention to detail/build quality, better trigger etc.

Between these two specific models the GT5 definitely had a better balance. The polymer grip on the 2k11 5" makes it top heavy and unbalanced in the hands.

They didn't have any of the Target with aluminum grip modules in, but I'd imagine that would balance out the 5" 2k11 much better.
