I am using a 1911 Stealth Arms Platypus with a Streamlight TLR-1 for competition. Looking for holster recommendation to use with this. I have never used a light before with a holster. I was told there are several companies making holsters the actually lock onto the Streamlight instead of the actual firearm so you are able to use different pistols with the same holster.

Professional holsters like Safariland attach at the light, but not too many "Comp" holsters like that. Maybe call Black Scorpion

If it "locks" or tensions onto the flashlight, I assume this would be a kydex holster. You really cannot use many different guns in the same holster regardless as dimensionally they would still need to be about the same width and slide to frame height. I.E. you couldn't pur a Glock with the TRL-1 in the same holster built for a 1911 with a TRL-1. Even different similar sized 1911 railed with a TRL-1 might not work because there is no factory standard frame/rail height thickness. Like a Colt M45A1 rail is greatly bigger than all other railed 1911 in that frame area.

But what you could do probally is G19-G17 or similar sized different calibers like G22-G23-G19-17 etc.

Unless your talking about the skeletonized holster that don't provide and hood over the firearm at all and only lock onto the light a have a small hood/protection for just the trigger guard itself. I not overly familiar with those but I know there is quite a few here that do competitions and will chime in sooner or later.

I recently discovered River Arms. They make holsters specific to the Platypus. Just check out the website, fill out the order form and they'll reach out to you via email. They go over your order then they'll send an invoice once its made. I myself have ordered one and am excited for the end product.

Floodlight OWB Range and Competition Holster

Have one I use for classes. Indexes on my surefire light and used with a variety of guns: 1911, Glocks, etc.

Tier 1 also has “universal light bearing holsters”
