Tech Poll How many here clean (not lubricant) firearms with WD-40?

Get an ultrasonic cleaner, learn to fully strip your firearms and put back together…ultrasonic cleaner can be used to remove that dried up, sticky, WD-40 Those guys are right in previous comments, but are the same ones if The Walking Dead really happened would use the WD-40 if that’s all they could get their hands on

This , I use an ultrasonic cleaner with a special gun cleaning solution and it makes the dirtiest of guns brand new, especially if you can't get into all the nook and crannies of the frame.

I use just CLP. if it worked in the Army, it'll work outside of it

The thing with WD40 is that it is a penetrating oil and not a gun oil, it will gum stuff up. I have never used it as a gun cleaner and probably never will unless it's the only thing available. For cleaning carbon out of bores and BCGs I just scrub with CLP and a bronze brush. Every now and then I use a copper remover if I feel the need to.

I don't use motor oil as a lubricant because the interwebs told me it doesn't have anti-corrosive properties, so I just use CLP or Ballistol.

I used to have a bunch of solvents and oils, but over time I noticed that if I just clean my guns after every time I use them (a quick 15 min scrub and lube), I never really have to do a real deep cleaning.
