Poll How often do you deep clean your guns?

i used to clean them after every outing if i shot 10rds or 1000rds. now i clean them with something happens, malfunction, jam, accuracy issues, then i note them and i clean around that schedule, every gun is different. general speaking after a shooting i run a patch down the barrel and couple drops of lube in key areas and call it a day. if i cant wipe it away with a rag then it gets cleaned.

1911s and 2011s for competition get the breakdown to the bare frame once or twice a year. Everything gets a good, deep cleaning, lube and parts inspection. Others just get a field strip, clean and lube (yes the Glocks too) when i'm bored.

Rifles - Field strip can clean after every range trip. After @1000 rounds, I'll strip the BCG down and clean.
Pistols - Field strip can clean after every other range trip.

Everything gets cleaned after a desert trip. There is sand and dust added to the powder dirt you get indoors.

Then you wash the jeep, vacuum out the dirt, sort the brass, reload the mags and take a shower.

Happiness is a clean gun, bang bang, shoot shoot.

I usually field strip and clean after every range trip and will do a full deep clean if I perceive a problem. If I’ve only put a mag through the firearm or if it’s a shotgun, the cleaning might get pushed out until the next time. If a firearm arm goes to the range and doesn’t get fired, it at least gets a good wipe down. For a firearm that doesn’t get out much, then I’ll always try to clean it before putting it away.
