Hello,
Does anyone have any experience with HSL 9mm ammo? It's Charlie Coks' ammo sponsor on youtube and they've got good prices. Just can't seem to find many reviews about it.

Trying to decide if Blazer Brass is worth the extra cost. You have an opinion on this?

It is not. Blazer is good practice ammo when its cheap. I have run HSL primarily now for the last 5 months. It is so much better than blazer and meets power factor for competitions

I've shot close to 7000 rounds of ammo from HSL. I've never had an issue with the 45 cal or the 115 grain 9mm. But, I have had some problem with the 124 grain 9mm ammo. The cases bulged some and jammed my Glock 19.

To be clear, I've had no issues with 5500 rounds of 115 grain 9mm or 1000 rounds of 45. The issue was only with the 500 rounds of 124 grain ammo from one order. Around 10 of them would not fit in the Glock's chamber.

My Glock 19 barrel's chamber is slightly narrower than my 3 Sig barrels. I might not have noticed the issue if not for shooting with the Glock. I first noticed the issue at the range where twice the range officer had to help me unjam my gun. The rounds could not fully insert into the chamber, getting stuck almost all of the way in. I could not rack the slide since the extractor was grabbing the round which was wedged into the chamber. Subsequent to those two failures I've barrel tested all of my HSL ammo before shooting. That's how I discovered a bunch of other rounds with the same issue. Some were even binding a bit in my Sig barrels.

I wrote them about the problem with my 124 grain order. I didn't ask for a refund or any other consideration; I just wanted to let them know. I never heard back from them.

Now I always barrel test all rounds using the tighter Glock barrel. I've never found a 115 grain one that wouldn't fully insert, but for every 200 rounds I test I invariably discard one or two that seem too tight. Even with that, it's cheaper than other ammo.

There's some variability in the weight of each round. I've seen as low as 11.1 gram to as high as 11.8 grams for 115 grain rounds. I have no idea if this is typical for factory ammo.

I trust them and will order from them in the future. But, I'll continue to barrel test the rounds before shooting.

I just went thought 1000 rounds of their 124 grain 9mm RN, zero malfunctions. Ran flawless in my Glock (unlike the guy above) I had no chambering issues whatsoever. My KR9, that is very picky about what ammo it likes, ate up all the HSL 9mm I fed it, no issues.

Maybe 4 or 5 of the rounds felt slightly under pressured, but other than that they ran great. Local shops can’t get anywhere close to HSL’s prices, especially if you use a creator discount code (I used code ‘PSR’ for $20 off). I just ordered 1k more of the 115 grain as they are now sold out of the 124.

My 2 buddies and myself only use the 124 gr in 2011s and my buddies glock 17 has run it fine. Sorry for the above poster who had issues.

Had the same exact issue with their 124 reman ammo. Wrote to them weeks ago, haven’t heard a peep. First and last time I purchase from them.
