I Live in Sonoma County - What Are My Options For USPSA?

Just finished the RRGC USPSA classifier match this past weekend.

I mostly shoot PROD, maybe 3k rounds lifetime with pistol optics ~500 in the last 6 months. This was my first match in any league running CO (no co-witness) - and I confirmed suspicion today that my zero was off (~3.5-4" at 17 yds ).

I believe this puts me in low B (~62%) for my initial CO classification, dropping the lowest 2 for the first 6. Same as I am with PROD (~65%).

All this to say not losing anything by training irons. And I've had to work on a faster draw to make up time for that additional confirmation so a net benefit.

However, I'll be running more CO now.

Nice scores, I was trying to classify in LO and my gun broke so I'm actually worse off than before the match LOL.

I will clarify though that when I say "you will score lower with irons" it still holds true, the hit factor to qualify in production is significantly lower than the hit factors in CO and simply based on hit factor you will be scoring lower. I still think it's very frustrating for people starting out just simply based on the higher learning curve and also the fact that you will see your scores in the context of every division and not just in Production. Just look at the other guy that keeps posting about his tribulations shooting irons, his learning curve is very steep right now. It's frustration that I wouldn't recommend to a beginner as I still stand by giving beginners the easiest path to success, making it hard up front is counterproductive.

Hell yeah! I’ll be there as well. I’m a pretty new shooter (6 matches so far, C class), but god damn this has been the most fun I’ve had in a while! It absolutely does not matter what gun/division you shoot in, just get started with what ya got and get some matches under your belt. Don’t worry about becoming a member yet either just come check out the club. I am in the process of becoming a member now because I have absolutely fallen in with this sport and club, but no need to over invest from day one. Just show up. If you have fun, keep showing up and the rest will take care of itself.

Diablo is a nice club but good luck getting into their new competitor class. Richmond is much more approachable but once you’re rated you can shoot wherever you want pretty much.
