Eh, I read and watch videos for months before I engage. I get you don’t know what you don’t know, but I also feel like everyone has given up on doing any type of research at all anymore. It’s the reddit Entification of the internet. People just show up throw a random out of context question into the world and expect an answer without ever even looking for the answer in the first place.

All forums eat themselves from time to time. Cars, Tech, Guns. You need strong computer janitors (mods) to keep them all flowing.

Yep no doubt. You see a lot of guys post the same question in other threads on the same forums and it does seem like a lot of them don't do any research before posting a qusetion.

Crye JPC, Esstac Stanag Kywi, RMA 1155 plates is what I have for my plate carrier set up. I believe the 1155 Gen 2s aren't nearly as heavy as the Gen 1s. Make sure you get multicurve plates no matter which brand you end up going for, they are a lot more comfortable.

Defense Mechanisms makes a great belt system, they also have a good plate carrier. Crye precision, Blue Force Gear, HRT tactical, Agilite and Velocity Systems/Mayflower are some other good brands. Honestly a good belt setup is probably the best starting place. Most tactical courses or classes/competition that are doing holster work require a decent belt.

If you're fat buy a krydex belt off of amazon then switch to something better when the pounds come off.
Invest in some good medical gear, TQ/IFAIK/Pouches , good magazine pistol/AR belt pouches. When you get your final belt you can swap pouches to it.

If you really want to try "kit" buy a cheap chest rig and try doing reloads etc. for most people even when prepping. A concealable armor vest is preferable to a overt plate carrier. Brass Facts has a lot of videos regarding use cases.
It's really easy to go down the rabbit hole spend thousands of dollars in you never use.
Think about this: if the megaquake happens or a catastrophic wildfire that knocks out power to your region for weeks. If you feel the need to tool up because people are getting robbed on the way to walmart are you gonna rock a overt plate carrier and a AR or a concealable vest and your CCW?

Unpopular opinion, go to your local swap meet on a weekend. You’ll find a lot of old timers who served sell a lot of cool military surplus for cheap. Backpacks, plate carriers, helmets, ammo cans, etc.

The load carriers, the books, this guy knows ball listen to him! Like I said in my previous reply check those swapmeets you’ll find good stuff like this.

As someone who likes to roll around in surplus (new and old) having gear is very specific to the individual as what works me 5'3 will not work for someone who is 6ft or vise versa. Do you need plates, a helmet, nods, camo, hydration set, smocks, smershes, webkit, the answer is maybe. While some brands are better than others. I don't think is necessary to drop thousands of dollars on XYZ brand product because some tactical ninjas swear that it will give you +10 defense and offense. I recommend to go to store and physically hold the product in your hand then decide for yourself if it is right for you. As I am pretty sure someone posting in this thread or the market place has dropped hundreds of not thousands on a product, realized they didn't like it, couldn't return it. Then desperately tries to off load it on the market place.

Imo crye jpc 2.0. Ferro fcp, spiritus systems lv119 amd lv120 are good ones to go to i have 2 of those 4 and are nice!!
