Is there any way to get full size photos that are clickable on here or improve the image compression at least when we upload from here or do we need to embed from a third party source to get full res

Embed from imgur is prolly the best bet. Ikeo has stated previously images take up a ton of storage space here

70% of users here are on mobile devices. 20% on desktop. To give you perspective we get ~8-10k uniques per day. So 5-7k are on mobile where screens are 414x896 screens. 2nd most is 4k screens then all the other smaller mobiles before 1920x80.

We limit file sizes to approx 1024x1024 ~150kb x 3 = .45 MB to limit the data, speed up the load times, and save battery. You have the option to use a 3rd party as @9mmContagion mentioned. This keeps our cost down, the site fast, and still gives you an option if you want to have full res. This is different than our counterparts that allow up to 6-7mb per image x 5 so your payload can be 30-35MB per post!

When i designed this, i kept this in mind for scaling. So when you do the math, you can start to see why the other site can get laggy saturating its 1GB line, which effectively is 800 mbps.

There is a FREE program called FastStone Photo Resizer which I use for my ads I post to save bandwidth and my hard disk space. It works well and takes my phone photos that start at 3 to 5mb and reduces them to usually less than 100kb and are still easily viewable.

We have an image optimizer already. You don't need to optimize before hand unless your image is over 6MB or larger than 20 MegaPixels. So you should be able to upload an image and it'll optimize it automatically.

Interesting, it didn't work. I tried to u/l photos for an ad here and hit a snag right off telling me the image was too big. I just resized it myself.

As mentioned, there's 2 conditions where the optimizer won't work. The file is > 6MB or has more than 20 Megapixels. That's the only constraint since 6MB is a very large file and 20MP+ is kinda unnecessary. You can just save as medium size and it'll work.
