Tried to find specifics on DOJ site but not finding what I'm looking for. Does anyone know if an intrafamilial transfer counts against the number of transactions with regards to PPT sale limits? Thanks in advance.

I do t have the legal subsection, but I believe when getting my FSC it was included in the manual that family transfers are exempt from the law 5ppt as well as the 10 day hold(as long as you are both in CA).

I don't think they are DROS transactions... especially if you do the transfer online through the DOJ portal?

I did the Intrafamilial forms with the DOJ through the mail. This is the second time I've transferred to my son through that process, it's really easy and he received confirmation within weeks. There's no DROS process involved in that, I'm just wondering if it is considered a transfer against the 5 transfer limit? I've done 1 trade and sold two firearms separately in 2026, aside from the intrafamilial transfer, which would put me at 3 or 4, leaving me with 1 or 2 possible PPT's remaining as I downsize a little bit. Thanks for the reply.
I suggest calling the California Bureau of Firearms (the unit within Cal. DOJ that processes intra-familial transfers and, I think, other transfers as well) to ask an “analyst” this question.
While their “analysts” are not lawyers, they do know DOJ “policy” pretty well. DOJ “policy” occasionally conflicts with blackletter law by being more restrictive (shocking, I know!). But at least you’d know how DOJ is likely to count your PPTs, view any additional bonafide sales within the period, and save the headache of a denied transfer and/or allegation of unlicensed commercial activity.
If you google hard enough, you can find BOF’s number online.
