Issues with Winchester White Box 9mm?

WWB has done well for me, many many thousands of rounds of it without issues for me. Walmart used to carry it here and it was far and away the best price, so that was my go to ammo for years. I shot a match with it once so far and again no issues. This is in a good variety of firearms and calibers.

That said, I do not have a Max 9, so it could be different.

If I had to guess, I’ve probably shot 15,000-20,000 rounds of WWB. Always went bang. Actually, I think I had one round that had a bad primer and maybe two rounds where the bullet wasn’t completely inserted properly in the brass. For training, it was decent stuff.

Have you tried a different pistol? I know you replaced parts so unlikely it’s a pistol issue. Still, last thing I’d try. It could be a bad batch. You could call Winchester, explain the issue and I’m guessing they might give you a refund. They will likely ask for the lot number.

Semi related, I once had part of an aftermarket pistol front sight fall of my gun. It was weird as it was a brand I used on may pistols over the years. I called the company and explained the situation. He asked “out of curiosity, did you buy this sight in 20XX (for get the year). I had. Turns out they had a bad batch of expoxy and seems to have impacted about 10 percent of the sights. Well regarded brand (why I don’t want to name them). Things happen. Could be a bad batch of ammo.

Only had 1 round out of 2k rounds of Winchester white box 9mm be bad. I will say it was extremely dirty ammo and there would be so much more extra build up after shooting that ammo.
Their 556 is however known to be junk, witnessed it break the BCG on my friends rifle

on top of it it's often not cheap. PMC for cheap 556 is the winner

I've shot many boxes of 9mm WWB out of multiple handguns without ammo related issues. Smokey? Yes. Dirty? Yes. However, always went BANG.

This is an old link but bulk practice ammo issues aren't that uncommon. Have someone try it in a different handgun.
