I've been bit by the 2011 bug

Fusion XP Pro Comp scratches that itch very very well. Plus it only takes about 1/2 of your wallet compared to a staccato, 1/3 if your talking XC

I got one in April, love it. Great gun at a good price. Probably near 85-90% a Stacatto for about 1/2 the price. A Stacatto is still a Stacatto and are fabulous guns they are just so expensive.

The real question is, is there an advantage to ones that use glock magazines? You are limiting yourself to the Staccato HD series or the Platypus or the Fusion. Those all have caveats and the "real" 2011s are generally better guns with more modularity with grips and triggers if you want to customize it to your preferred configuration.

The biggest "advantage" I see, which is more of a quality of life advantage is that you don't have to clean glock mags like 2011 mags on a regular basis. Assuming you're shooting at a match, there's more people willing to loan you a cheap glock mag vs a $100+ atlas mag.

That is a very specific situation but glock mag 2011s like fusion/platypus are also cheaper entry level guns that have that convenience factor. If you end up not liking a fusion/platypus, at least you saved yourself $500+ in 2011 mags alone, which is equivalent to 1/3 of a Fusion XP Pro Comp price or 50% of a base Fusion XP Pro

They just need more mags. I load enough mags to get through a match without cleaning and reloading the ones I’ve used. It’s a game-changer — especially for PCC.

what kind of pcc you rocking? Been looking at building one but Maul wait times/experience sound like and jp5 is pricey & proprietary but maybe the best alternative for those non direct-blowback systems

The strike industries extension doesn't fit on mecgar or Magpul mags though. You can however get 140mm mec gar 2011 mags for 45 bucks. I still think it's a like-for-like situation. If you are running flat competition followers in a Glock mag in a gun with tight tolerances it's gonna be a similar situation. It also seems that the atlas mags have a lot less issues than mags of the past and especially the old sti and mbx mags

If you want to go under 1k for the whole rifle just grab a Maxim rdb, it will fit in any carbine length buffer tube, just gotta take the weight out of the bolt. It's very soft flat and reliable, just a bit tough to charge but you get used to it.

it's definitely the best cheapest option, I normally would suggest just grabbing an Aero epc lower but they have essentially stopped producing anything. I have a KP9 polymer lower with the maxim buffer though and it's great.

That's legit what I was gonna do hahaha saw some epc lowers floating around $250. So this is pretty much plug and play? Any issues with ammo/normal functions of dropping this in?

no the buffer is easy, PCCs can be a little tricky with everything else like feeding and ejecting but the EPC recievers are solid in my experience. The only slightly annoying thing is that the ejector isn't adjustable but you can just put a different one in if you have issues with the oem ejector, they essentially put a hole in the epc ejector so that the pin holds it in one position. So you just need one without a hole in it. But that's only really if you need to adjust the ejector. I don't normally suggest anyone look on reddit but the AR9 sub has a lot of good information. They aren't super fans of the Maxim buffer but most of the people there aren't doing matches so they don't care about muzzle rise just how "soft" the recoil is. But they have good info on which bolt/barrel combos are good.

I’m a JP-5 guy. And an upgraded Prodigy for Limited Optics.

That's when you need to change the environment and standards. You can always strive to shoot faster and more accurately. Introduce more challenging drills or better yet go out and compete and find out how much performance people can get out of the same gun or better/worse guns than you. 2011s are great and offer you a pretty much uncapped skill ceiling, but by that same measure you feel kind of awful if you can't run them as well as they deserve to be run. Which means improving your hard skills/fundamentals.

True. But I rather train and practice with my carry guns, and I don’t carry 2011’s. Too thicc and heavy for my taste. If it was a duty gun then absolutely!

Lots of people shoot IDPA or just from concealment with their carry guns/setups. One of the best ways to quickly get better. I do carry 2011s though and shoot 2011s almost exclusively/shoot 2011s in competition. So, I get what you're saying.
