Looking for a gunsmith to install a virgin A2 FSB on a virgin barrel

Can anyone point me in the right direction to go? I've called a couple local gunsmiths around San jose and they seem confused on what I'm trying to achieve. (drill and ream for taper pins)

Can non-serialized parts like barrels and uppers be sent to you vs having to make an appointment for "while-you-wait?"

Hey Randall maybe you could answer this question. The person posting this thread apparently lives up in Northern California and I know you're in the San Fernando valley. So if he were to ship you the upper and you did the work, would you then have to ship it to an FFL or could you ship it directly back to him? Thanks

The law is very specific as to applying to the purchases of barrels much more than as to the shipping of barrels.
A barrel can be shipped to a gunsmith to be worked on because that is not a purchase of a new barrel.
There is also a specific exemption for returning to the original owner after work is completed since a return is not the purchase of a new barrel.

Please stop giving bad legal advice, especially on a law which I imagine hurts your business. It helps when you cite your sources. I happened to stumble on this thread after you stated that the FFL03/COE gives you what sounds a unilateral exemption to SB-704 in another thread, which it does not.

It's not specifically only to purchases. If we pull up the text of SB-704, as it amends the law at the time of passage:

Today's Law As Amended - SB-704 Firearms: firearm barrels.

Or specifically CA PC 33700(a)(1), as it currently exists in law:

33700. (a) (1) A firearm barrel, as defined in Section 16525, shall not be sold or transferred unless that transaction is completed in person by a firearms dealer licensed pursuant to Sections 26700 to 26915, inclusive.

That's not sales; that's sales AND transfers, which is definitely not "very specific as to applying to the purchase of barrels".

There's also no warranty/gunsmith exemption for this law, which is frustrating. The only thing that can be said is they didn't write any language that prevents you from personally importing barrels that you acquired out of state across state lines.

There's still long standing exemptions for repair work on firearms that exist, that you could creatively use for barrel work, but it sounds like based on the other thread you only hold a FFL03, so you wouldn't qualify for those exemptions.
