Looks like Glock will be dethroned with the V model ??

For years other companies have caught up with the simplicity, reliability and modularity of Glocks, now it seems with Glock folding to appease stupid lawmakers with the V model it will be the straw that broke the camel's back. Apart from looking silly, they broke some interoperability with the V model. Glock is lacking features like useful slide serrations and bump outs to make use easier, lacks the interesting optic mount solutions like the Echelon. Lastly it looks like for California we will no longer even have an option for the normal consumer.

To me it seems like it is going to lead to tanking Glock sales, reduced long term aftermarket support and overall major loss of ground to competitors, what do you guys think?

For me a Glock 3 is fine and simple, but there just seems to be so many better options out there lately. I held out hope that maybe I will grab some Gen 5s one day, but now I'm not sure it is worth it unless I'm looking at a 45 or 10mm.

Unless the CADOJ let’s GLOCK pull some miracle, I don’t think the V will be permitted to take the place of the out going Gen 3. So, unless something changes, the new commercial market of GLOCKs in California is stalled if not gone all together.

Private sales will see a price bump, and there are millions of them around, so it’s not likely that they’ll disappear anytime soon.

The V has a cruciform trigger. It is illegal for retail sale come July 2026 regardless of what the DOJ does with the roster.

Sorry, could be wrong on this. Although, reviewing the text I think I can see a couple ways that the ban could still apply to the V, even taking into account the "common household tools" thing as they are defined in Section 4082 of Title 11 of the California Code of Regulations, as well as some of the text of AB1127 itself.

Not to mention that someone has already made a working switch for a V in the first place without apparently making any mods to the pistol itself beyond the switch installation.

Not true, the law says cruciform that can be converted with a specific set of hand tools. If you can't convert it with that list then it's legal.

Has less to do with lawmakers and everything to do with courts and lawsuits. Beyond that it's barely different than a gen 5 so I doubt it will have much effect.

I'm just waiting for their Gen 6 to release. That will tell us where their heads are really at. If they pull another small set of simple "upgrades" then you know they're just catering to LE and military. FCU, OR, and some minimum level of good trigger feel and ergos (very qualitative and subjective, I know) is the standard by which most people judge new guns nowadays. We see that with the M&P 2.0 (minus FCU), P365, Echelon, and others. Even the Ruger RXM (I know, off roster) has been getting good reviews, and they're just a Glock clone lol.

I honestly don’t see that much difference between how the V functions from a regular gen 5. There would be no learning curve switching. If they go into decline it’s because the other companies finally have products that are preferred.
