I recently acquired gen 5 mags but it barely fits in my gen 3 Glock with the current magwell, so I was forced to take the magwell off. I could change the base plates but for the sake of keeping the mags stock, is there anything out there for gen 3 Glocks that can fit the longer base plates of the gen 5 mags?

I wrote this up back in 2021 on CGN - not sure if it helps or not? I like Overwatch on a 19x and Suarez for all my gen 4s.

Glock Magwell Compatability

In my research, I found little information in one place and what I did find didn't answer my questions so I thought I'd provide what I found and maybe others could too?

So far the TTI is a great magwell and a true funnel but with little size increase over the others BUT it requires mag extensions. It is a 1 piece vs the Suarez 2 piece and I think in general that a 1 piece is going to have more rear funnel based on the fact there is no screw to attach the base to the insert.

I will try Magpul magazines asap. I don't have any ETS.

Prices are what I paid when purchased or on PA site

Glock 17 gen4

TTI Carry
(owned) $54.99 on sale
NO GO with Vickers baseplates or oem 10rd
OK with Glock 19X mags (same as +2 oem?), oem 17rd (no space to grasp mag)
This is a single piece magwell and is very well made and functional.

SLR Rifleworks (email inquiry) $83.99
NO GO with Vickers baseplates
OK with Glock 19X mags (same as +2 oem?), oem 10rd, oem 17rd

Gen5 mags work in gen3 that article is wrong.

As I understand it, the feed lips are taller and the base plate isn’t compatible with Gen3.

My buddy has a Gen5 19. I’m going to ask to borrow his mag and test fit this in my Gen3.

That article you posted is wrong. If you dont have actual experience a little googling will show you the way

I have not had issues running 10rd Gen5 mags in my gen3 G17s or Ruger PCC. The gen5 mags have notches on both sides to allow you to reverse the mag release for lefties. I don’t run aftermarket magwells though.

Yea the fit of the mags seems great but only after I removed the magwell. Which again brings the question, which magwell fixes this issue? It's the gen 5's base plate that makes the fit a bit tight with the magwell on. No magwell, no problem. But I would like to use one.

It just sticks out more. Without a magwell, this isn't an issue. It fits and locks in place.
