Please provide what you use for data sheets that collect data. If you understand statistics you can take these numbers and segment them down.

Its math. The government collects this data to learn and extrapolate insight. Rather than discount the data, use AI or process it yourself.

I don’t use data sheets. If I did, I’d start with the ones that included all casualties from mass shootings that involved shooting a firearm at other persons. How about that?

I gotta give the article a smidge of credit. At least they printed out in regular size type and font exactly what it is they left out. They very concisely set a criteria for what a, “mass shooting” is and I believe that criteria sucks.

"You dance with the one who brung ya" and you work with the data you have. You do not ignore a situation until you have a perfect dataset, instead you extrapolate to the best of your ability. Just because a state hasn't reported data directly to the FBI does not mean data has not been compiled and made public. One last point, the nation was in the grips of a pandemic in 2021 and non pandemic related data collection was the last thing on everyone's mind.

Remove the modified image or the post will be removed. That isn't wanted here. You can argue the statistics, but don't modify it to literally paint your own picture of what you see.

The statistics in my in the op clearly state that the 65.5% of Americans who are white only commit 54.4% of mass shootings

Simple arithmetic says that the 35.5% of Americans who are POCs commit 45.6% of the mass shootings.

It's not a threat. We have to maintain decorum given the situation. No one gets a pass for murdering anyone. If they're a man they're a man. If they want to be called something else, whatever.

That said, judge the individual not the community. There is a growing pattern in the world, depression and other emotional issues keep increasing. Every community has its issues, including this one. How we communicate with each other is what separates us.

That’s fine. You have two choices. Either delete the entire thread because it paints the white male community as mass shooters or just flat out admit that you are a hypocrite.

Data is an interesting thing, the problem is how people interpret it. Because you don't like certain things, you tried to change it to avoid it. It paints a literal picture of whats's happening in the country. If you go to another country, guess what, similar statistics will happen in that population.

Judge the individual, not the community. You can use data to see trends. You can point out discrepancies if you'd like but by making things up. Use data.

If you can't back up what you say with data, then its your feelings, which I can understand. Several communities feel the same way, which is why I think this was posted in the first place.

IMO, the term mass shooter is really a generic term for community on community crime. If you haven't noticed, people attack each other. If its one community against another community then it turns into a hate crime. Discussion is allowed and encouraged, emotional outrage isn't. As I said, communication is what separates us from people who cannot.

I just think some data has been cherry picked. If a nationwide pandemic was to blame why is it only two states with a large amount of unreported data? Also California had some crazy smash and grab issues going on at that time and the leadership in Cali said crime was trending down. Who do you believe?

Smash and grab isn't the same as murder.

If we want real data, we'll have to get it collected via government mandate for the FBI and CDC to collect the data in its raw form for us to process. The issue is that the current admin is not in favor of open data and also defunding that so its more secretive. You have access to the source data since everyone uses the same data set but extrapolates or interprets it a certain way.

Otherwise the priority with our government is to collect data on citizens via Palantir for government processing while public data is voluntary and inaccurate. This is the war on information.

We know for a fact:

• every crime that is reported is in a database.
• every report has statistics and is entered in by the enforcement agent
• federal government is building systems to integrate with local for data sharing
• citizen data is going to be able to be shared across systems
• Palantir was selected to build systems to connect data insights

We are not entitled to any of this data. This could be changed, but its better to keep the lines blurry so we read it our own ways. That's the nature of control.
