Hey everyone,
I recently picked up a beautiful vintage custom 1911 and I'm trying to track down the history of the builder. It’s an absolute tack-driver, but the shop seems to be a complete ghost on the internet today.
I reached out to the historian at Caspian Arms, and they confirmed the following:
-The Frame: Caspian stainless.
-The Date: Sold as a bare receiver on 08/16/1993.
-The Buyer: Shipped directly to a shop called "Follow-Up Guns" in Palmdale, CA.
Whoever built it at Follow-Up Guns hand-fitted it to a Colt MK IV Series 80 Combat Government slide, dropped in a match barrel and a 2-3 lb match trigger. It shoots like an absolute dream and clearly has some early 90s IPSC/USPSA competition DNA in it.
My Question: Does anyone from the early 90s Southern California/High Desert shooting scene remember a shop called "Follow-Up Guns" in Palmdale? I would love to know the name of the master gunsmith who ran it or any history about the shop before they closed their doors.
