Just uploaded a video on the new Mossberg 940 Pro Thunder Ranch edition. This is the latest addition to the Thunder Ranch Mossbergs with the upgraded/updated features!
I had the LGS order one of these for me, and they ordered another one for stock and have sold over a dozen since then!
TLDR for those that would rather read about it than watch the video:
This is my initial thoughts and impressions after putting about 100 rounds of buckshot and slugs through it.
I haven't really seen any videos on this specific model so far, so I wanted to share some of the feature differences vs other Mossberg models and some reasons why you may want this particular shotgun over others.
I was zeroing the optic at the beginning of the video, so that's why you see several single shots at the beginning of the shooting footage.
Quick takeaways:
Ultra-reliable gas system (ran 100% so far)
Oversized controls, Cerakote FDE, M-LOK spots on the handguard
Adjustable stock makes it versatile
No chokes (fixed choke barrel)
No side saddle (despite marketing images)
Some magazine tube inconsistencies (not always 7+1 with all 2¾” loads)
Comparing it to the 930, 940 SPX, and Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol, each has its trade-offs.
Clint Smith’s Thunder Ranch pedigree definitely adds some trust factor, but there are compromises you’ll want to know about before buying. Check it out and let me know what you think!
