Is it legal for me to purchase a P365 Legion that the seller has made me aware of a grip and slide swap specifically for the sale? Would be picking up the Legion slide and grip at the same time Dros clears. Issue is the seller is LE, I don’t think he’s baiting me or anything, I just want to make sure what I’m doing is 100% legit and not some loophole with a technical problem if someone gets a bee up their rear about it. Appreciate any input.

It's legal whether it's off roster or not. Off roster does not matter for ppt

The serial number is still attached to a Legion, changing its clothes will not change that. He's basically doing business without an FFL.

Doesn’t it kinda depend on volume though? Maybe he had a legion, sold it, regretted it later and bought another, then had to get rid of it to fund another purchase (gun related or otherwise). I mean if dude is doing this 3x a month, yeah, that’s dumb lol

Thanks all, appreciate the help. FWIW this guy does have his own FFL so there’s that. I’m a Toe The Line kind of person, no boot licker but I’ve never had a criminal record nor the desire to end up with stupid charges.

Basically what I was confused about, why bother putting it down as a XMacro if it has a legion serial other than it would take more time to look up the serial number should anything get called into question.

California doesn't care as long as it meets the Federal definition of a pistol and is not a California "assault weapon" meaning no suppressor, no threaded barrel etc.

Kind of, but the ATF is a bit ambiguous as to the volume. The jack asses that were doing 50-100 in a year when this fiasco first started shed a lot of light on that grey area.
If he's worried about IA and attempting to circumvent via disguising the gun as something its not he likely falls into the camp of doing business without an FFL.
