He brought you body armor…for training in competitive shooting. Unless you are participating in the Tactical Games he was throwing the kitchen sink at you for stuff to charge you for. I’ve never seen any USPSA shooter ever use body armor.

What credentials do you need to be a firearms instructor??

Typically NRA instructor certification in the type of firearm you are teaching is needed before you can get insurance to teach that type of firearm.
When I helped run the CA precision rifle club, we kept half a dozen NRA certified range safety officers in the club so there would alway be a couple available to run events.
Our club insurance and the range policy both required it.

You should definitely not dox him or spread any allegations of him scamming.
Only his customers can decide if they feel like they were scammed or not.
You should try to help his business by spreading links to his FB Market, OfferUp, Snapchat & IG listings and explaining exactly what your experience was without calling him a scammer.
This is called an after-action report and good instructors usually love the online praise they get from happy customers.

You absolutely have the right to be able to post his information and then do an honest discussion about the charges of what he charged you for and what his services were for. Don’t call him a scammer just say hey this is what exactly he did. If you’re telling the truth then you have no liability in regards to legal.

Shoot. I won't be taking any more lessons with him. I think if I go to an indoor range training it'll be cheaper or won't have a cleaning fee because we can scoop and clean it ourselves.

You could definitely report him to r66, they are one of the most friendly ranges I’ve been to that’s very pro 2a, but they always follow guidelines to make sure they and their guest don’t get in trouble, and this is one thing I’d think they’d want to deal with. It would not be necessarily doxxing, just someone who was at first unaware who became aware of what happened. Provide receipts, chats with him, with time stamps etc. If that’s your prerogative of course, but you could definitely save someone else in the future from this.
