Potential Scammers, Flakes & Ghosts 🤙🏽

There’s a surplus of new members here on CAGuns and as a result, active sellers/traders/buyers like me become more susceptible to scams, inquiries and offers that often go nowhere and simply waste time …..so as a precaution, all of my ads now have a notice saying that I will not entertain or deal with members without any feedback and my experience so far has been good…..less BS inquires as of late and the ones that insist of being a “serious buyer”, go the distance (schedule, a date and time and even an FFL appointment) but end up NOT responding the night before or the day of transfer (Ghosts: No communication whatsoever after agreeing to PPT) will receive a “Neutral” or maybe even a “Negative” feedback review (receipts kept of course in case CA Guns admin checks)……Gave my first negative feedback last week to a potential buyer who never responded the day of the transfer and potentially posting another neutral/negative feedback for another member later this afternoon…..Again communication is key a simple “ I changed my mind!” or “I am unable to make it today” works perfectly fine for me personally and it is only the members that do not respond or go ghost receives the a neutral/negative review…..I am hoping that by identifying these members that it helps improve the buying/selling/trading process here on CAGuns As always ya’ll safe and stay Arm3d

You’d be surprised how many calls a gun store gets from people asking to “hold it for me” and then never showing up. Simply tell buyers that if they can’t meet today, there’s no deal. They’re always welcome to check back with you tomorrow to see if the item is still available.

Well aware of that for sure I think I have a good amount of feedback under my name has definitely helped with limiting BS inquiries but I totally agree that they can just come back and ask if it’s still available the next day if they are not buying it today

I've had more tire kickers lately for sure but some of my best sales and buys have been new people. Just picked up a never fired SP-01 from a guy, it was his only gun and he's never coming back haha. Super nice guy and easy transfer though. I just don't get my hopes up until they sound serious.

No problem, sir…..I am a very polite and respectful person and even though there’s a few members that missed the note that I posted on my ads, I still respond in a very respectful way…..majority of folks here on CA guns are amazing to deal with and again I have about 87 positive reviews and a good amount of the folks that I’ve dealt with I stay in touch with up until today……also MOST of the time, I give anyone who asks a question about my items for sale/trade a chance but I I’m a little bit more careful now on who I respond to as well

I’ve had some wonderful experiences with the first time buyer/sellers but I would say that majority of members that I have dealt with that did not have a feedback or either low ball or had scammer like behavior lol it was quite rare that I would deal with a member that has a feedback that ended up not purchasing the item that they had inquired about or or simply not respond when they did not want to purchase the item anymore……Again based on the number of postive feedback that I have, I am not difficult member to deal with

I've been meeting up with people and doing in person transactions from people I've met probably since 2003 from Craigslist. I've done a good number of transactions from the old Calguns; I've even drove from the peninsula all the way to Sacramento and Stockton just to do a transaction. IDK what happened to people now, but back then a person's word meant something. If you say you're going to meet someone at a certain time and confirm it, then do it. If you can't, then don't be a coward and ghost - it really is that simple. It's very sad and frustrating to deal with these type of mentally challenged people.

yeah definitely better when they have feedback, but with so many new people coming on here I'm fine with some low effort messages. I mean I'd rather not but it's pretty easy to tell how serious they are. Like "what's your lowest price" is the kind of guy that never actually buys anything lol.

Yes sir As I had mentioned as well on a previous post, I am totally fine with people backing out as long as they notify me….Yes I might get upset, but the fact that the member had the decency to let me know, that earns that member another shot at any items that I have for sale/trade in the future and majority of us would be ok with that as well

I really feel like FB marketplace style of communication and bargaining kinda bled into calguns/CAguns. When I was on Calguns, I can't ever remember doing or continuing business with someone saying,"What's the lowest you'll take?" or "Can you go any lower?".

I would never ask that, but I would at least give a reasonable offer for something. If a glock was posted for $600, I'd ask, "Would you let it go for $500? Maybe we can do a cash+ammo trade?"

Just an FYI for anyone who is new to buying and dealing with people with firearms, you absolutely need to learn how to show respect, swallow your pride, and take the high road. These are guns in the hands of people you never met, this isn't an episode on Shark Tank.

But what I'm really saying is: "I've posted my item for a price I feel is fair. Maybe you feel differently. I'm open to discuss that, but the onus is not on me to price my item in accordance with your feelings". I'm never desperate enough to chase a sale.

I feel these people see more value in winning a negotiation vs seeing the value in what they're actually buying. Maybe if they don't win the negotiation it's a blow to their ego? I just can't with this new generation smdh

That's good to know! I was mostly referencing the bottom-dwellers on FBM & OfferUp.
